CAREER NIGHTS FOR ANDERSON AND CARETHERS LEAD MEN'S BASKETBALL TO EASY WIN OVER CENTRAL PENN

BOX SCORE RADFORD, Va. - Ya Ya Anderson exploded for career-highs with 33 points and nine three-point baskets, and Jalen Carethers tied career highs with 12 points, eight rebounds, and four blocks as Radford buried Central Penn, 111-72, at the Dedmon Center.

Six Highlanders scored in double figures as RU put up the most points in the Mike Jones era and won at home for the seventh time in 10 games. Javonte Green added 14, Kion Brown scored 13, R.J. Price chipped in 11, and Rashun Davis had 10 as the Highlanders shot 64.1 percent from the floor and 55.6 from behind the arc. Anderson finished 9-11 from deep and 11-14 overall.

"I thought our guys came out with a lot of energy, and really locked in and focused on what we were trying to get done," Jones said. "You could tell by how we were getting the ball inside early and sharing the ball for great looks. It got to be a lot of fun, and it was keyed by our defense."

With Radford leading 13-10, the defense held the Knights scoreless for over six minutes combined with a 24-point offensive burst to put the game away by the midway point of the first half. The run was capped by an Anderson trey. He scored 11 of RU's points in that decisive span.

"If you are a solid defensive team, then you are going to get a chance to go on those kinds of runs," Jones said. "We were able to get out in transition for some easy buckets and then Ya Ya caught fire."

The Highlanders put up gaudy stats all around the court on this night. Price finished with six assists, five rebounds, and four steals, which tied a career best. Anderson had four assists to go along with his 33 points. Kyle Noreen finished with five assists and five rebounds. As a team, Radford dished out 26 assists on 41 made baskets.

Devon Dorsey led Central Penn with 30 points and eight rebounds. Connor Arnold added 18 for the Knights, who are now 5-3 on the season.

Radford, now 5-2 for the first time since the 2005-06 season, remains at home Saturday to host North Carolina A&T. Tip is set for 4:00 p.m. at the Dedmon Center.
