VIDEO RECAP: RADFORD SWEEPS REGULAR SEASON SERIES FROM HIGH POINT, 63-58

BOX SCORE HIGH POINT, N.C. - Radford closed the last five minutes on a 14-2 run and handed High Point its first loss at home in Big South play Wednesday night, 63-58. Rashun Davis scored 17, and Kion Brown matched a career high with 14 to lead four players in double figures for the Highlanders.

High Point led 56-49 with 5:07 to play, and the Highlanders took over from that point.

While the defense shut down the Panthers, RU got three free throws each from R.J. Price and Javonte Green to get the Highlanders within reach and set up the biggest shot of the night. With Radford trailing 56-55 with just over a minute to play, Davis buried a three from beyond the top of the key that kept the Highlanders' hopes of reaching the No. 2 seed alive in the Big South North.

Price and Green each finished with 10 points. Green added nine rebounds and three blocks. Jalen Carethers tied a career high with four blocks, and the fourth came on the biggest defensive stand of the night.

After Davis gave the Highlanders the lead, Carethers deliverd on the defensive end with a blocked shot that forced High Point to foul, leaving Davis and Price to seal the game at the charity stripe.

"When our guys are locked in and focused, they are a lot of fun to watch," RU head coach Mike Jones said. "It was the guys tonight. They earned this."

Brown provided the offense in the first half scoring 12 of his 14 points. The freshman tied the mark he set in his first career game at Wake Forest to open the season. He scored on four straight possessions late in the first half that helped Radford stake itself to a 33-28 lead at the intermission.

The Highlanders are still alive to earn a bye in next week's Big South Tournament. If Radford defeats Liberty on Saturday, and High Point knocks off Campbell, the Highlanders finish with the second seed and a first-round pass. Radford can finish no worse than fourth and as high as second.

With the victory, Radford avenges back-to-back overtime losses and snaps a three-game skid overall.

"With all that has happened to us in the last couple games, you have to get up, brush yourself off, and get the job done," Jones said.

The Highlanders (13-17, 7-8) round out the regular season Saturday hosting Liberty for Homecoming at the Dedmon Center. Tip is set for 4:30 and follows the women's game vs. Gardner-Webb.
