CARBAUGH IGNITES MEN’S GOLF AT COCA-COLA INVITATIONAL

SPARTANBURG, S.C. –
Sophomore Tanner Carbaugh carded a career-best, 4-under-par 68 in the second round to lead the Radford men's golf team to fourth place following day one of the Coca-Cola Invitational hosted by Wofford College at The Country Club of Spartanburg (par 72, 6,648 yards).
 
The Eggleston, Va. native enters the final round tied for eighth at 3-under-par 141 (73-68). His 36-hole total is also a career-best mark. Two strokes behind is Matt Harman at 143 (73-70). His 36-hole scorecard ties his personal-best and has him tied for 15th.
 
Weston Eklund and Conner Hayden are tied for 34th at 146. Eklund carded a 2-under-par 70 in his opening 18 holes, while Hayden did so in his second round. The freshman from Chilhowie, Va. is tied for fourth in the field in par-3 scoring at 1-under-par.
 
Rounding out the Highlanders' lineup is Callum Tarren, who returned a 147 (74-73) to the clubhouse and is tied for 41st in the 88-player field. The junior is tied for fifth in par-5 scoring for the tournament by going 6-under-par.
 
As a team, Radford followed a 2-over-par 290 in the first round with a 7-under-par 281 in the second round to finish the day at 5-under-par 571. Leading the 16-team field is host Wofford at 19-under-par 557 (283-274).
 
Three Terriers are in red figures through 36 holes, including overnight leader Charles Moore. Moore charted a tournament-best 16 birdies on the first day en route to an 8-under-par 136 (69-67).
 
East Tennessee State is in second, eight shots back of the Terriers at 565 (285-280). In third place is Appalachian State following a 568 (287-281), three shots clear of the Highlanders.
 
RU will be going for its fifth top-5 of the season when the squad returns to the course for its final round Tuesday morning.
