WOMEN’S TENNIS CONTINUES PLAY AT HOKIE FALL INVITATIONAL

BLACKSBURG, Va. – Members of the Radford women's tennis team recorded victories Saturday as competition continued at the Hokie Fall Invitational hosted by Virginia Tech at Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center.
The three-day event concludes Sunday with each flight's final matches in singles and doubles, which are slated to begin at 9 a.m.
Gemma Valls downed Liberty's Rebekah Jenkins in three sets (0-6, 6-4, 1-0 (7)) to set up a duel with teammate Taylor Newman in Flight A singles at 11 a.m.
In Flight B singles, Meg Napolitano defeated teammate Sara Andrade in straight sets (6-2, 6-4) to advance to play Pittsburgh's Katherine Castro at 10:30 a.m. Grace Sarver will challenge Liberty's Cameron Richard at 10 a.m. in her final singles match of the tournament.
Another all-Radford final will take place in Flight C singles as Allison Michael and Gisela Garcia will clash at 10 a.m. Also in that flight, Taylor Fay encounters Lauren Mabe of Liberty at 10 a.m.
Valls and Newman combined for a victory in Flight A doubles over Liberty's duo of Valerie Thong and Annisha Domenech, 8-3. They will face another tandem from their Big South rival in Brittany Yang and Mariely Hassey at 9 a.m.
Also in Flight A action, Napolitano and Sarver joined forces to dispatch James Madison's Jacqueline Palmucci and Emily Bradshaw, 8-4. They will battle Thong and Domenech at 9 a.m.
Andrade and Garcia teamed up for an 8-4 victory over Frances Peyton and Laura Ramthun of Virginia Tech in Flight B doubles. They collide with Pitt's Jocelyn Lu and Lolade Ogungbesan at 9 a.m. Fay and Michael confront Peyton and Ramthun on the other side of the draw at 9 a.m. as well.
