CLINTON, S.C. – Entering the game as the top defense in the Big South, Presbyterian College showed it could get it done on the offensive end as well, shooting a season-high 52.9 percent on its way to a 70-45 win over Radford in Big South women's basketball action Saturday afternoon at the Templeton Center.

Ayana Avery hit six of her 14 shots to tie for game-high honors with 15 points to lead the Highlanders (2-13, 0-6 Big South). Kermisha Clark had a breakout performance with her season-high 12 points on 5-for-9 shooting to go along with three steals.

Only allowing 52.1 points per game, PC leads the league in that category and ranks sixth nationally. Nonetheless, the Highlanders were able to finish at 40.4 percent shooting, including a 48 percent clip in the final 20 minutes.

Preseason All-Big South selection Karlee Taylor went 6-for-8 from the floor in chalking up 15 points for the Blue Hose (3-11, 1-4 Big South). The senior guard was followed in scoring by Keyonna Allen (14) and Kasey Hobbie (12). PC outscored Radford's reserves, 25-2.

Behind 53.8 percent shooting, Presbyterian established a 38-17 favor at the break. The Blue Hose knocked down five of their nine 3-pointers in the frame, with Taylor drilling three.

Avery canned three 3-pointers during an 11-2 run to open the second stanza that brought RU within 12 (40-28) at the 16:05 mark. The Highlanders could get no closer as PC stretched its lead to as many as 28 in the second half.

Following its two-game road swing through the Carolinas, Radford returns to the Dedmon Center for a three-game homestand, which begins Thursday, Jan. 9 at 7 p.m. against Winthrop.
