COASTAL CAROLINA SNAPS VOLLEYBALL’S WIN STREAK

CONWAY, S.C. – Leah Hardeman and Annayka Legros knocked down 14 and 10 kills, respectively, to guide Coastal Carolina to a 3-1 (25-21, 25-18, 20-25, 25-18) victory over Radford in Big South volleyball action Friday night inside The HTC Center.

The Highlanders (14-7, 4-2 Big South) struggled to find their offensive rhythm, only hitting .071 for the match. Megan Short was effective for most of the night on the right side, hammering 13 kills on 32 swings (.312). However, the only other Radford player to reach double-figure kills was Rachel Wiechecki, who unleashed 12.

Wiechecki was incredible in the back row, finishing with 26 digs to notch her 14th double-double of the season. Kelby Jackson also crossed the 20-dig plateau, contributing a career-high 22. Jena Braden tallied her 10th double-double of the season, assisting on 36 attacks and collecting 11 digs. Emma Deininger and Savannah Cantrell both charted three blocks.

With its offense not performing up to standard, Radford's defense tried to pick up the slack. The Highlanders finished with 75 digs, compared to 68 from Coastal (15-4, 5-1 Big South). They also held the Chanticleers to .143 on the attack.

RU, which saw its four-match win streak come to an end, will look to bounce back Saturday when the Highlanders invade the Buc Dome for a 7 p.m. match against Charleston Southern.
