
HIGHLANDERS FINISH FIFTH AT CAMDEN COLLEGIATE INVITATIONAL

ROUND 3
CAMDEN, S.C. – The Radford men's golf team carded a 299 in Sunday's final round to claim fifth place at the Camden Collegiate Invitational hosted by South Carolina at the par 70, 6,455-yard Camden Country Club.

On the strength of a 5-under-par 275, the Gamecocks were able to mount a late charge on the back nine to overtake overnight leader Wofford by one shot. South Carolina posted a three-round 847 (288-284-275), while Wofford finished at 848 (284-281-283). Furman (865) and Charleston Southern (867) placed third and fourth, respectively.

The Highlanders concluded the tournament five shots behind CSU with their 872 (280-293-299). Radford beat four Big South teams in the field, including powerhouse Coastal Carolina.

Callum Cochrane ended up in 19th by carding a 217 (69-71-77) to pace the Highlanders. Overall, the freshman had a nice showing in his first action of the fall. He logged nine birdies, which tied for the most by a Radford golfer at the tournament.

Ryan Rettberg and Tanner Carbaugh tied for 20th at 218 (70-75-73), while Nick Brediger tied for 30th at 221 (72-73-76). Conner Hayden rounded out the lineup in a tie for 39th at 223 (71-74-78).

Wofford's Brannan Hudson captured medalist honors by firing a 1-over-par 71 to finish at 9-under-par 201 for the tournament. He beat teammate Jeremy Grab and USC Upstate's Ryan Cornfield by six swings.

RU is back on the links Nov. 2-4 for the Wendy's Kiawah Classic hosted by Charleston Southern on Kiawah Island. The 54-hole tournament will be played at Turtle Point.
