RADFORD SETS ITS SIGHTS ON JAMES MADISON MONDAY

Radford remains on the road inside the Commonwealth to start the season Monday as the Highlanders travel to James Madison for a 7:00 p.m. tip against the Dukes. Both teams are coming off in-state losses in their season openers. RU opened its 2014-15 campaign at Richmond, and JMU lost at home to Virginia on Friday night. The two rivals have not played since the 2010-11 season.

JMU has won five straight in the series and leads the overall slate 10-2. The Highlanders have not defeated the Dukes since the 1999-00 season, a 69-67 victory in the Dedmon Center. In all, RU is 1-6 in games played in Harrisonburg. The only victory came in the second meeting all-time with Madison, a 73-71 decision in the 1985-86 season.

SCOUTING THE DUKES
James Madison dropped its opening game, 79-51 to nationally-ranked UVA. The Dukes shot 28 percent from the field and were dominated on the boards, 38-27. Hari Hall led the team with 15 points and four rebounds. Kent Jackson added 14 points.

THE HIGHLANDERS
Radford too shot just 28 percent in a 64-46 loss at Richmond. Javonte Green posted his 27th career double-double with 21 points and 12 rebounds. The Highlanders were just 1-13 from behind the three-point arc. Radford did control the backboards, outrebounding the Spiders 43-32. In the game, R.J. Price moved into 13th place on the all-time RU scoring list. He now has 1,233 points for his career.
