MADDIE PALMER SELECTED BIG SOUTH FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – For the second time this season, Radford's Maddie Palmer was selected the Big South's The Crons Brand Freshman of the Week for volleyball matches played Nov. 9-15. The league office made the announcement Monday evening.

"Maddie has really come on strong for us at the end of the season," head coach Marci Jenkins pointed out. "The good thing for us is she has only scratched the surface of how good she really can be."

Palmer was efficient in her two matches last week, hitting .358 and averaging 3.86 kills per set. She tied her season high of 15 kills in the 3-1 win over Gardner-Webb. Palmer exploded for six kills in the final set.

Against UNC Asheville, Palmer swung a sizzling .462 on her way to 12 kills. She put down the decisive kill in each of the first two sets to propel Radford to the sweep.

The league honor was the second time the Simpsonville, S.C., native has been honored by the Big South in three weeks.

Top-seeded Radford opens its Big South tournament title defense Thursday at noon against No. 8 seed Campbell at The HTC Center in Conway, S.C.
