HIGHLANDERS TIP OFF FIVE-GAME HOMESTAND AGAINST WILLIAM & MARY

RADFORD, Va. – The Radford women's basketball team will play its next five games inside the Dedmon Center, beginning with Tuesday's 7 p.m. in-state battle with William & Mary.

SCOUTING WILLIAM & MARY
The Tribe (4-2) will be playing its second straight opponent from the Big South, Tuesday night. William & Mary defeated Longwood, 90-55, Saturday afternoon in Williamsburg.

Radford marks the third Big South foe the Tribe has on its schedule. In addition to Longwood, William & Mary has already played High Point. The Panthers claimed an 87-80 overtime decision over W&M on Nov. 23 in High Point.

The Tribe's 90 points scored against the Lancers were a season-high for the team, which averages 69.2 points per game.

Sophomore guard Marlena Tremba leads William & Mary in scoring, cashing in 17 points per game. She is also an 83.3 percent free throw shooter. Backcourt mate Jazmen Boone contributes 12.7 points per game, while Alexandra Masaquel pulls down a team-best nine rebounds per contest.

Tuesday's meeting will mark the 22nd time these two programs have faced each other on the hardwood. W&M claimed a 67-53 victory over the Highlanders last season in Williamsburg. Radford still has a commanding 15-6 edge in the all-time series with the Tribe.

RADFORD ROUNDUP
RU will be gunning for back-to-back wins for the first time since the Highlanders defeated Gardner-Webb and UNC Asheville in consecutive games at the beginning of February this year.

With a win, Radford (2-3) would exceed its nonconference win total from a season ago just six games into its 2014-15 campaign.

Senior guard Ayana Avery and freshman forward Janayla White lead a balanced offense at 7.8 points per game. Four other Highlanders average at least five points per game.

White also tops the rebounding department with her 8.4 boards per outing, which rank sixth in the Big South. Junior guard Gaby Gilmore has been nearly automatic from the free throw line, converting 90.9 percent of her attempts. That percentage ranks second in the league.

AVERY ON BRINK OF HISTORY
With eight more 3-pointers, senior guard Ayana Avery will break the Radford record for 3-pointers made in a career. She currently has 196 in her time as a Highlander. Kylie Williamson (1999-04) holds the top spot with 203. Avery already set the single-season mark with 95 made 3-pointers in 2013-14.

The 5-foot-5 sharpshooter is also inching closer to the 1,000-point club. Avery has 909 career points through 93 career games played. She would become the 21st member of the group.

UP NEXT
Radford will gear up for Saturday's Big South opener with preseason conference favorite Liberty. The in-state conference clash is set for a 2 p.m. tip inside the Dedmon Center.
