RADFORD, Va. – For the third time this season, the Radford women's basketball team will clash with an ACC opponent as the Highlanders make the short trip to Blacksburg to battle Virginia Tech, Sunday at 1 p.m., inside Cassell Coliseum.

SCOUTING VIRGINIA TECH
The Hokies were .500 (4-4) through their first eight games of the season. Since then, Tech has reeled off three wins in a row to enter Sunday's game with a 7-4 ledger. Eight of the Hokies' 11 games have been at home where they have posted a 6-2 mark.

A trio of underclassmen lead Tech in scoring, paced by Rachel Camp's 18.1 points per game. The Forest City, N.C., native leads all ACC freshmen in scoring and ranks fourth overall. She set the Tech single-game freshman scoring record in the Hokies' 79-58 win over Western Carolina when she dropped in 33 points.

Regan Magarity, a freshman from Sweden, is one of four players in the ACC averaging a double-double (14 ppg/10.6 rpg). However, the 6-foot-3 forward has missed the last six games with an injury. Vanessa Panousis contributes 12.5 points per game, in addition to her team-leading 4.1 assists per game, which tie for third in the ACC.

Tech has international flavor on its roster as five of its 13 players are from abroad. Two Hokies hail from Australia (Panousis and Hannah Young), while Taijah Campbell and Samantha Hill call Canada home, and Magarity comes to Blacksburg from Sweden.

RADFORD ROUNDUP
RU (3-7) will be seeking its first win in Blacksburg since the 2006 season when the Highlanders invaded Cassell Coliseum and captured a 67-60 victory. That game was also the last Radford win in the head-to-head series, which Tech leads, 23-9. RU is 4-12 when playing the Hokies in Blacksburg.

On the strength of her fifth double-digit scoring output of the season, senior Ayana Avery paces the offense with her 11.2 points per game. She is the Highlanders' top threat from beyond the arc. The 5-foot-5 guard has a team-high 24 3-pointers through 10 contests. Her 2.4 3-pointers per game rank third in the Big South.

In addition, the Cleveland, N.C., sharpshooter is inching closer to the 1,000-point club. Avery has 982 points through 98 career games played. She would become the 21st member of the group.

Over in the rebounding department, senior Jordynn Gaymon pulls down 7.5 caroms per contest. Her average ranks eighth in the conference. Freshman Janayla White is right behind with her 7.2 average, which ranks ninth. On top of her rebounding, White ranks fifth in the Big South in blocks per game, rejecting 1.8 shots per outing.

WHO WILL REACH IT FIRST?
Both teams enter Sunday's game one win away from a program milestone. Radford is one win shy of the program's 650th win all-time. Meanwhile, the Hokies have recorded 599 wins in their program's history.

UP NEXT
Upon their return from Christmas, the Highlanders will dive back into Big South competition with a road game at Gardner-Webb on Dec. 30. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. inside Paul Porter Arena in Boiling Springs, N.C.
