LIVE STATS  |  LIVE VIDEO  |  LIVE AUDIO  |  GAME NOTES

RADFORD, Va. – After enjoying a five-day break, the Radford women's basketball team finally returns to the court Tuesday night when the team squares off against Gardner-Webb inside Paul Porter Arena in Boiling Springs, N.C. Tipoff for the Big South game is set for 7 p.m.

SCOUTING GARDNER-WEBB
The Runnin' Bulldogs (4-8, 0-3 Big South) have dropped five of their previous six games entering Tuesday's tilt. Two of their four wins have come against non-Division I programs. In its last time out, GWU fell to previously winless Longwood, 63-59.

Defense has been Gardner-Webb's biggest asset thus far. The Runnin' Bulldogs hold their opponents to 63.2 points per game and a .366 field goal percentage—both averages rank in the top four among Big South teams.

Although Gardner-Webb lacks size, the team ranks second in the Big South in rebounds per game (45.8) and third in rebounding margin (+6.8). The Runnin' Bulldogs also rank fourth in blocks (4.9) and fourth in steals (8.8).

RU has won four of the last six encounters with Gardner-Webb, but the Highlanders only lead the head-to-head series, 8-7.

RADFORD ROUNDUP
RU (3-8, 0-2 Big South) will be looking to close 2014 on a strong note with a road win in Boiling Springs. The Highlanders are 4-3 inside Paul Porter Arena, but lost a 71-57 decision to GWU at the beginning of this year.

On the strength of her sixth double-digit scoring effort of the season, senior Ayana Avery paces the offense with her 11.2 points per game. She is the Highlanders' top threat from beyond the arc. The 5-foot-5 guard has a team-high 27 3-pointers through 11 contests. Her 2.5 3-pointers per game rank second in the Big South.

In addition, the Cleveland, N.C., sharpshooter is inching closer to the 1,000-point club. Avery has 993 points through 99 career games played. She would become the 21st member of the group.

Over in the rebounding department, senior Jordynn Gaymon pulls down 7.5 caroms per contest. Her average ranks seventh in the conference. Freshman Janayla White is right behind with her 7.2 average, which ranks 10th. On top of her rebounding, White ranks sixth in the Big South in blocks per game, rejecting 1.6 shots per outing.

Paced by Avery's .355 clip from long range, Radford ranks second in 3-point field goal percentage (.318). Avery is one of three Highlanders who average over 35 percent shooting from beyond the arc.

UP NEXT
Radford has nearly one week to prepare for its next opponent, Charleston Southern, which invades the Dedmon Center, Monday at 7 p.m., for a Big South clash.
