KISSIMMEE, Fla. –
Playing its third and fourth nationally-ranked programs of the weekend, Radford Softball was defeated in its final two contests by a pair of SEC schools, No. 25 Auburn, 8-0 and No. 1 Florida, 7-0, on Sunday afternoon at the ESPN's Wide World of Sports Complex.
 
No. 25 Auburn 8, Radford 0
 
Despite holding Auburn's (17-3-1) high-powered offense to just five hits, Radford (3-7) was defeated, 8-0 in five innings.
 
Freshman Augusta Clarke recorded her first collegiate hit with a bunt single in the third. Sophomore Nia Chiles recorded the Highlanders' other base knock.
 
Four of the Tigers' eight runs were unearned, taking advantage of two Highlander errors, three walks and two hit batters.
 
A two-out two-run double by Jade Rhodes capped off a three-run first in which all the runs were unearned. In the fourth, Auburn scored four runs on one hit, taking advantage of two walks and two hit batters.
 
Junior Kelsey Weddle suffered the loss going just one-plus inning. She surrendered seven runs, three earned, on three hits with two walks, one hit batter and two strikeouts.
 
Marci Harper picked up the win in the circle for the Tigers. She went four innings, allowed one hits, struck out six and walked two.
 
No. 1 Florida 7, Radford 0
 
Radford's final task of the Citrus Classic was to take on its fourth and final nationally ranked opponent, No. 1 Florida. In the end, the Highlanders fell 7-0 to the Gators (21-0).
 
Chiles recorded Radford's lone hit with a single in the third and stole second. She finished the day with two of Radford's three hits
 
Delanie Gourley picked up the complete game shutout for the Gators. She struck out 11 and walked one. Kirsti Merritt and Chelsea Herndon each recorded a pair of hits with Stephanie Tofft knocking in two runs.
 
Freshman Abby Morrow suffered the defeat in 4.2 innings of work. She surrendered seven runs on 10 hits with three strikeouts and three walks. Sophomore Rachael Walters tossed 1.1 inning of hitless relief with three strikeouts.
 
Radford steps out of tournament play for a week and will head down to Elon for a three-game series with the Phoenix on March 8 and 9.
