AVERY SELECTED ALL-BIG SOUTH HONORABLE MENTION

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Radford guard Ayana Avery was selected to the Big South's honorable mention team as part of the conference's postseason women's basketball awards, which were announced by the league office Sunday afternoon.

"Ayana has played well in her junior season," head coach Mike McGuire said. "On many occasions, she was relied on heavily to carry the load for us offensively, and she stepped up for us in crucial situations. She has had some amazing streaks of shooting the ball well this season, and positioned herself in the top 10 in the country for 3-pointers made per game. That is impressive. I hope this recognition will motivate Ayana to continue to improve the remainder of this season, and as she heads into her senior season as a Highlander."

Avery leads the team in scoring at 14.8 points per game, which is the sixth-best average in the Big South. Against conference-only competition, Avery's average rises to 16.3 points per game (third-best average in the league).

The Cleveland, N.C. native makes a living from behind the arc, having drained a Radford single-season record 92 3-pointers. Her 3.17 treys per game average is tied for ninth in the nation. In addition to the single-season record, Avery set the single-game record for most 3-pointers made when she drilled 8-of-11 at High Point on Jan. 23.

She has scored in double figures 22 times or 75.9 percent of the Highlanders' 29 games. Furthermore, the two-time conference player of the week eclipsed the 20-point plateau seven times this season.

Also recognized with a postseason award was Kiera McIvor, who was named to the all-academic team.
