RADFORD, Va. – Coming off its 61-58 upset of defending Big South regular-season champion High Point, the Radford women's basketball team opens the second half of its conference slate Tuesday at 7 p.m. against Gardner-Webb inside the Dedmon Center.

RADFORD ROUNDUP
Following Saturday's action, the Highlanders (10-9, 7-3 Big South) captured sole possession of third place in the league standings. They are one game behind High Point and one game ahead of Campbell and Winthrop.

RU, which has won seven of its last eight games, welcomes the Runnin' Bulldogs to the Dedmon Center looking to sustain its momentum. With a win, the Highlanders would sweep the season series against Gardner-Webb for just the second time in program history (the 2012-13 season was the other). A win would also give Radford a 7-1 record for the month of January.

The Highlanders, which lead the head-to-head series, 9-7, defeated Gardner-Webb (76-60) in the first encounter of the season on Dec. 30 in Boiling Springs, N.C. The game marked the program's 650th overall win. In addition, Ayana Avery scored her 1,000th point in the second half of the contest.

Avery is the only double-figure scorer for RU at 10.7 points per game. She is one of the Highlanders' top threats from beyond the arc. The 5-foot-5 guard has 46 3-pointers through 19 contests, which are the most in the Big South. Her 2.4 3-pointers per game also rank first in the Big South.

Over in the rebounding department, freshman Janayla White pulls down 7.8 caroms per contest. Her average ranks eighth in the conference. On top of her rebounding, White ranks third in the Big South in blocks per game, rejecting 1.9 shots per outing. In conference-only games, RU ranks second in the league with its +4.5 rebounding margin.

Paced by Aisha Foy's .409 clip from long range, Radford tops the Big South in 3-point field goal percentage (.337). Foy is one of three Highlanders who average over 30 percent shooting from beyond the arc.

SCOUTING GARDNER-WEBB
The Runnin' Bulldogs (7-12, 3-7 Big South) enter Tuesday's conference clash on a three-game losing skid. They have not played since last Tuesday, a 72-57 setback at High Point. Before its three-game slide, Gardner-Webb had won three in a row in league play.

As was the case in their first matchup with Radford, rebounding will be key for the Runnin' Bulldogs, who lead the Big South in offensive rebounds per game (17.4). The Highlanders were able to outrebound Gardner-Webb, 42-32, in that game. Only nine of the Runnin' Bulldogs' 32 rebounds were on the offensive end.

In conference-only games, Gardner-Webb averages 5.6 3-pointers per game. Mayhana Dunovant, who runs the point for the Runnin' Bulldogs, converts 39.7 percent of her 3-point attempts. She leads the team with her 23 3-pointers and ranks fourth in the Big South in assists per game (3.5).

Olivia Parker and Jessica Heilig pace Gardner-Webb in the scoring column with 12.4 and 12 points per game, respectively. Parker also leads the team in rebounding at 7.6 boards each time out.

UP NEXT
With only one game this week, Radford will have five days to prepare for next Monday's showdown with league-leading Liberty in Lynchburg, Va. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. inside the Vines Center.
