WOMEN’S BASKETBALL HEADS TO DEFENSIVE-MINDED PRESBYTERIAN, THURSDAY

LIVE STATS  |  LIVE VIDEO  |  LIVE AUDIO  |  GAME NOTES

RADFORD, Va. – Looking to sustain its momentum from the past two games, Radford travels to Presbyterian College for Thursday's 5 p.m. Big South women's basketball showdown inside the Templeton Center in Clinton, S.C.

RADFORD ROUNDUP
The Highlanders, who are coming off their third win of the season by two points or less, find themselves tied for fifth place in the Big South standings entering Thursday's action. A win against the Blue Hose will certainly help RU (5-8, 2-2 Big South) as Presbyterian is only a half game behind the Highlanders in the league standings.

Radford is seeking to win three games in a row for the first time since March 2013. The team is also striving to level its road record at 3-3 with a victory in the Palmetto State.

Senior Ayana Avery is the only double-figure scorer for RU at 10.8 points per game. She is the Highlanders' top threat from beyond the arc. The 5-foot-5 guard has a team-high 31 3-pointers through 13 contests. Her 2.4 3-pointers per game rank second in the Big South.

Over in the rebounding department, senior Jordynn Gaymon pulls down 7.7 caroms per contest. Her average ranks eighth in the conference. Freshman Janayla White is right behind with her 7.1 average, which ranks 10th. On top of her rebounding, White ranks fifth in the Big South in blocks per game, rejecting 1.5 shots per outing.

Paced by Avery's .352 clip from long range, Radford leads the Big South in 3-point field goal percentage (.325). Avery is one of three Highlanders who average over 35 percent shooting from beyond the arc.

Despite RU leading the all-time series with the Blue Hose, 12-4, Presbyterian has claimed four of the last six meetings. PC swept the season series in 2013-14, prevailing 70-45 at home and 53-46 on the road.

SCOUTING PRESBYTERIAN
When Radford visits the Templeton Center for Thursday's game, a win will be no easy task. Presbyterian is 5-0 at home this season, winning by an average of 27.2 points per game.

On top of their home court advantage, the Blue Hose (7-7, 2-3 Big South) is annually one of the top defensive teams in the nation. This season is no different. PC is only yielding 49.3 points per game and holding its opponents to 33.4 percent shooting—both averages lead the Big South and rank third and 10th in the nation, respectively.

The 3-point line will be a deciding factor as well, considering RU leads the league in 3-point field goal percentage, while PC ranks first in the Big South and fifth in the nation in defending the 3-ball (.228).

Presbyterian is coming off a 59-42 loss at Liberty on Monday night. Despite the loss, the Blue Hose held its opponent under 60 points for the 13th time this season. Of Presbyterian's 14 games, only Charlotte (66) was able to eclipse the 60-point mark.

Freshman Janie Miles and redshirt junior Keyonna Allen average 8.6 and 8.5 points per game, respectively, to pace the Blue Hose. Allen contributed a combined 36 points in PC's two games against Radford last season. Miles is a potent threat from beyond the arc for the Blue Hose. The Clemson, S.C., native connects on 38.5 percent of her attempts from long range, which ranks third in the conference.

UP NEXT
Radford closes a stretch of three games in six days with a trip to Farmville, Va., for Saturday's 2 p.m. in-state clash with Longwood inside Willett Hall.
