QUICK TURNAROUND FOR WOMEN’S HOOPS AS HIGHLANDERS TRAVEL TO LONGWOOD

LIVE STATS  |  LIVE VIDEO  |  LIVE AUDIO  |  GAME NOTES

RADFORD, Va. – Playing its third game in six days, the Radford women's basketball team makes the short trip to Farmville, Va., for Saturday's 2 p.m. in-state battle with Longwood inside Willett Hall.

RADFORD ROUNDUP
The Highlanders, who have won three straight games for the first time since March 2013, find themselves tied with Campbell for fourth place in the Big South standings entering Saturday's action.

Radford is seeking to win four games in a row for the first time since Jan. 2013. The team is also striving to improve its road record to 4-3, which would tie Liberty for the best road mark in the Big South.

Senior Ayana Avery is the only double-figure scorer for RU at 10.3 points per game. She is one of the Highlanders' top threats from beyond the arc. The 5-foot-5 guard has a team-high 32 3-pointers through 14 contests. Her 2.3 3-pointers per game rank second in the Big South.

Over in the rebounding department, senior Jordynn Gaymon pulls down 7.8 caroms per contest. Her average ranks eighth in the conference. Freshman Janayla White is right behind with her 7.7 average, which ranks ninth. On top of her rebounding, White ranks fifth in the Big South in blocks per game, rejecting 1.6 shots per outing.

Paced by Aisha Foy's .426 clip from long range, Radford ranks second in the Big South in 3-point field goal percentage (.318). Foy is one of three Highlanders who average over 30 percent shooting from beyond the arc.

Despite RU leading the all-time series with the Lancers, 19-13, Longwood has claimed five of the last seven meetings. These two programs split the season series in 2013-14, with each team winning on its home court. Radford's win against the Lancers on Jan. 16, 2014 snapped a 15-game losing streak, which was the longest of its kind in program history.

SCOUTING LONGWOOD
Although the Lancers have a 2-13 overall record, both of their wins have come at home. Longwood opened the season with 11 straight losses before defeating Gardner-Webb, 63-59, on Dec. 28 of last year.

The Lancers are a scrappy, guard-oriented team—only one of their 12 available players stands over six feet. The injury bug bit Longwood at the beginning of the season, losing two of its top players.

LU generates over 30 percent of its offense from beyond the arc. Longwood averages a conference-high 6.13 3-pointers per game.

Rebounding will also play a vital role in Saturday's game. In Big South games alone, the Highlanders lead the league in rebounding margin (+7.6). Meanwhile, opponents are outrebounding the Lancers by 10.2 per game.

Longwood captured a 78-74 victory over visiting Coastal Carolina, Monday night, to secure its second win in four games.

Junior Raven Williams ranks eighth in the Big South in scoring at 13.3 points per game and 10th in steals per game (1.53).
