HIGHLANDERS HOST DAVIDSON FOR EDUCATION DAY



SETTING THE STAGE
  • Radford hosts its second Atlantic 10 Conference opponent of the season Wednesday when Davidson visits the Dedmon Center for a non-conference women's basketball clash.
  • Tipoff is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. as part of the Highlanders' first-ever Education Day.

HIGHLANDER HIGHLIGHTS
  • Record: 2-2
  • Radford is coming off one of its best performances under head coach Mike McGuire.
  • In the Highlanders' 84-39 win over Lees-McRae, RU scored the most points (84), had the largest rebounding margin (+28), had the largest scoring margin (+45) and dished out the most assists (24) in a single game under the third-year head coach.
  • Radford's 55-point second half came within four points of tying the Dedmon Center record for most points in a single half.
  • Defense is once again a staple of the Highlanders' success. They lead the Big South in scoring defense at 55.8 ppg.
  • Aisha Foy ranks 12th in the Big South in scoring at 12.0 ppg.
  • Janayla White (11.8) and Jayda Worthy (11.5) are 13th and 14th, respectively, among the Big South's scoring leaders.
  • Worthy is the conference leader in field-goal percentage (.667) and ranks second in rebounding (8.8 rpg).
  • Lydia Rivers and Worthy rank third and fourth, respectively, among Big South players in blocks per game.
  • Jen Falconer records the third-most minutes per game in the conference at 35.5.
 
SCOUTING DAVIDSON
  • Record: 4-2
  • Davidson is one win away from matching its 2014-15 win total of five games as the Wildcats are coming off a 5-25 campaign.
  • The Wildcats enter Wednesday's contest on a three-game winning steak, after defeating Bowling Green (60-56) and UNC Wilmington (77-50) in the UNC Wilmington Hampton Inn Thanksgiving Classic.
  • Davidson concludes its seven-game season-opening road trip in the New River Valley.
  • Outscoring opposing teams 368-352, the Wildcats save their best for the fourth quarter, holding an 85-67 advantage.
  • The Wildcats lead the Atlantic 10 in field-goal percentage, going 130 for 387 from the floor for a 33.6 percentage.
  • A dominant rebounding team, Davidson has outrebounded opponents, 263-221, averaging 43.8 per game, which rank second in the A-10.
  • Dakota Dukes leads Davidson in scoring (16.2 ppg), rebounding (7.5 rpg) and blocks (2.7 bpg).
  • Dukes collected her 1,000th career point on Nov. 28 with a 20-point effort in the 77-50 win over UNCW.
  • Mackenzie Latt also averages double-figure scoring for the Wildcats with 11.7 ppg.
  • Davidson and Radford have one common non-conference opponent this season in NC State. The Wildcats fell to the Wolfpack, 58-42, on Nov. 22, while the Highlanders dropped a 67-52 decision on Nov. 17.
  • The 11:30 a.m. tipoff is one of two pre-noon contests for the Wildcats this season as they will host East Tennessee State on Dec. 18 in their own Education Day special.
