RADFORD LOOKS TO END ROAD WOES AT WOFFORD



SETTING THE STAGE
  • Radford looks to snap its seven-game road skid Friday at 12 p.m. in a non-conference women's basketball tilt against Wofford in Spartanburg, S.C.
  • The Highlanders have not won a true road matchup since Feb. 14, 2015 in a 64-57 win at Charleston Southern.
  • Series: Radford leads, 2-0.
  • Last meeting: Radford 60, Wofford 59 (Dec. 15, 2014)
  • This is Radford's first trip to Benjamin Johnson Arena. The first meeting between the two teams came on Dec. 10, 2011 as part of the SoCon/Big South Challenge in Asheville, N.C.

HIGHLANDER HIGHLIGHTS
  • Record: 4-4
  • Radford is fresh off its 12th consecutive home victory with a 92-36 decision over Concord on Dec. 12.
  • In the win, all eight Highlanders who played scored, including four in double figures.
  • Leading the way for RU was an 18-point effort on 6 of 9 shooting from Jayda Worthy.
  • Worthy continues to lead the conference in field-goal percentage at 52.2 percent. Worthy is 35 for 67 from the floor.
  • Jen Falconer filled out the stat sheet in the win with 15 points, eight assists, five rebounds and two steals.
  • Falconer is tied for the Big South lead in assists with 34 and ranks second in assists per game with 4.3. She also leads the conference in assist to turnover ratio at 2.4.
  • Aisha Foy leads the Highlanders in scoring average, ranking ninth in the Big South with 12.6 ppg. Foy has totaled 101 points in eight contests.
  • After grabbing a season-high 16 rebounds, Lydia Rivers now ranks ninth in the Big South in rebounds per game with 7.6.
  • Gaby Gilmore is Radford's top perimeter defender ranking fourth in the Big South in steals (20) and steals per game (2.5).
  • As a team, Radford possesses one of the best defenses in the Big South, holding opponents to 57.6 ppg.
  • Adding to their strong defense, the Highlanders lead the Big South in rebounding, averaging 42.1 per game.
 
SCOUTING WOFFORD
  • Record: 3-7
  • Wofford is on a two-game winning streak after defeating Bluefield (69-58) on Dec. 13 and NC Central (60-37) on Dec. 15.
  • All three Terrier wins have come on their home court.
  • Wofford ranks fifth in the SoCon in scoring offense (58.1 ppg), but rank seventh in scoring defense (66.3 ppg).
  • Kentra Washington leads the Terriers in scoring, averaging 10.7 ppg, ranking ninth in the SoCon.
  • Behind Washington, Wofford sports four players averaging eight or more points per game.
  • Ashton Fleming is Wofford's top rebounder, averaging 7.2 boards, ranking fifth in the SoCon.
  • Opponents have outrebounded Wofford, 437-368, this season.
  • Chloe Wanink leads the conference in field-goal percentage at 50 percent. Wanink is 32 for 64 on the season.
  • Wofford is one of the best free-throw shooting teams in the SoCon, making 120 of 164 attempts, good enough for second.
  • The Terriers' success at the charity stripe can be attributed to Jordan Frazier. Frazier ranks second in the conference with an 85.2 free-throw percentage.
  • Wofford is 0-3 versus Big South teams this season; dropping contests to UNC Asheville (70-63), Gardner-Webb (64-61) and Charleston Southern (74-64). After taking on Radford, the Terriers will travel to Coastal Carolina on Dec. 21 to face their fifth Big South team on the season.
