KILPATRICK’S CAREER HIGH SPURS WINTHROP TO 66-45 VICTORY OVER RADFORD

ROCK HILL, S.C. – Winthrop guard Aliyah Kilpatrick dialed up a career-high 24 points on 10 of 18 shooting to guide the Eagles to a 66-45 Big South women's basketball win over Radford Tuesday night inside Winthrop Coliseum.

After the Highlanders (15-11, 12-5 Big South) trimmed their deficit to six (35-29) less than a minute into the second half, Kilpatrick responded for Winthrop (15-11, 11-6 Big South) by scoring nine straight points to derail Radford's comeback.

"I was pleased with the way we opened the second half, being able to cut it to six," head coach Mike McGuire said. "Then Winthrop made a run, and we didn't respond…we didn't have an answer. We also didn't have an answer for Kilpatrick. She was super. She scored in a lot of different ways. Winthrop deserved to win."

Counting Kilpatrick, four of the Eagles' starters combined for 61 of Winthrop's 66 points. Schaquilla Nunn contributed 17 points and 12 rebounds (eight offensive). Erica Williams and Samiya Wright chipped in 10 points apiece.

Led by Nunn's rebounding performance, the Eagles outrebounded RU, 46-36. Winthrop was able to score 17 points off those second-chance opportunities.

Aisha Foy led the Highlanders in scoring for the eighth time this season with 10 points, including a 3-pointer to open the contest. Jordynn Gaymon delivered eight points and nine rebounds in her second straight start. Janayla White accounted for four of Radford's five blocks, which tied her season high.

"If we are going to be competitive at the top of this league, which is where we are right now, we need to get serious, we need to get tougher and we need to take care of the details all the time, every possession," McGuire expressed.

With the loss, Saturday's showdown with Campbell will be a battle for second place. The Big South clash, which is designated as the Play 4Kay game, is set for a 2 p.m. tip inside the Dedmon Center. Campbell edged RU, 65-62, in overtime on Jan. 17 in Buies Creek, N.C.
