RADFORD, Va. ---- The Radford track and field team travels to Winston-Salem, N.C., for the 2015 Big South Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships from Thursday, Feb. 26, to Friday, Feb. 27. The Highlanders enter the meet with more than 15 top-10 times in the conference this season.

Competition from the JDL Fast Track starts on Thursday at 10 a.m. with the heptathlon. The 60-meter hurdles kick off the running events at 3:10 p.m. The meet will conclude on Friday afternoon with the 4x400-meter relay.

Radford comes off a sweep of the Big South's Track & Field Athletes of the Week honors. Teresa Williamson turned in personal record in the mile, followed by a sixth-place finish in the 800 meters last weekend. Ashlen Veatch also recorded a career best, taking fourth in the weight throw at the VT challenge.

Williamson leads the Red and White in the distance events, finding herself with three times in the top five of the league this season. Her personal best of 4:50.11 in the mile turned in last weekend tops the conference. Williamson's 10:11.34 in the 3,000-meter run comes in at fourth in the league, while in her lone 800-meter run of the year, she ran a 2:17.62 to rank fourth in the Big South.

Leading the conference in the 800 meters is Katie Hickey. Hickey turned in a lifetime-best 2:14.87 at the Chipotle Marshall Invite on Feb. 13. She also finds herself rounding out the league's top-10 in the mile with a 5:11.52.

The throwers lead Radford's field events with six different top marks in the conference. Shania Williams' 13.78m (45-02.5) in the season's opening meet on Dec. 3, which garnered Field Athlete of the Week honors in the Big South, stands as the second longest put of the year. Williams also ranks 10th in the weight throw with a distance of 15.17m (49-09.25).

Veatch's career-best 17.93m (58-10) in the weight throw last weekend gave her the third-best mark in the Big South this indoor season. She has improved her distance every meet since the Virginia Tech Invite on Jan. 16.

Williamson became Radford's first-ever female to earn the Big South's Most Outstanding Track Performer at the conference's indoor championships last season. She shattered the championship meet record for the women's 3,000 meters, turning in a 9:38.33 to win the event. Williamson tallied a second victory in the mile with a 4:50.38. Jazmine Banks hoisted a personal-best 56-00.00 mark to place sixth in the weight throw in 2014, while Jessica Shelton used personal records in the 60-meter hurdles (8.99) and the long jump (16-08.50) to accumulated a personal-best 3,060 points in the pentathlon for seventh place.
