ROSE-DELIA KICKS OFF OUTDOOR SEASON WITH PERSONAL BEST MARK

RADFORD, Va. ---- As the lone Highlander competing on the opening day of the USF Invite in Tampa, Fla., on Thursday night, Naihla Rose-Delia took sixth in the hammer throw with a mark of 43.72m (143-05).
Rose-Delia crushed her personal best on the first day of Radford's outdoor season, beating her previous mark by more than 10 meters. In 2014, she recorded a heave of 33.41m (109-07.00) at the Virginia Cup on March 22.
Emmalene Hale and Shania Williams were slated to compete in the event, but did not attempt a throw.
The Highlanders have a full schedule of events on Friday at USF, beginning with Jessica Shelton and Monica Mallory in the javelin throw, and Rose-Delia, Williams and Hale in the discus at 9 a.m. Running commences at 11 a.m., with Jessica Shelton leading off for the Red and White in the 100-meter hurdles. Reanna Hamm and Shantel Jones will close out the event for Radford in the 200-meter dash.
