ROCK HILL, S.C. ---- After one day of competition at the Adidas Winthrop Invite at the Irwin Belk Track and Field Complex in Rock Hill, S.C., Jessica Shelton sits in seventh overall in the heptathlon.

Shelton has accumulated 2569 points with three more events to be scored. Her best finish on the day came in the 100-meter high hurdles, where Shelton earned 814 points with a 15.21 to take third. She tallied 685 points with a 27.32 in the seventh-place performance in the 200 meters.

Monica Mallory enters Friday in 18th overall in the heptathlon. Mallory recovered from the 100-meter high hurdles with a 617-point 200-meter dash in 28.18. She finished in 14th in the high jump, shot put and 200-meter dash.

The bulk of the meet begins on Friday at 10 a.m. with the continuation of the decathlon and heptathlon. Field events kick off at 2 p.m. Ashlen Veatch, Jazmine Banks, Emmalene Hale and Naihla Rose-Delia are slated for the hammer throw, followed by Shania Williams, Banks and Rose-Delia in the shot put.

Shelton and Cara Myrtle open the running events for the Red and White in the 100-meter high hurdles. Friday concludes with the 5,000-meter run at approximately 8:30 p.m. Madeline Thomas, Courtney Rice, Courtney Burton and Emily Marshall are slated to compete in the event.

The meet wraps up on Saturday starting at 9 a.m. with the triple jump. Running commences at 8 a.m. and finishes at 4:45 p.m. with the 4x400-meter relay.
