Radford opens an eight-game home stand Tuesday against its New River foes from Virginia Tech. This is the third meeting of the season between the two teams. Each squad owns a win over the other in the previous matchups. The Hokies won 18-8 in the first game, and RU posted a 15-7 victory two weeks ago at English Field. First pitch Tuesday night is set for 6:00 p.m. at RU Baseball Stadium.
SCOUTING THE HOKIES
Virginia Tech split a pair of games with North Carolina over the weekend before Sunday's finale was canceled due to weather. Tech has dropped six of its last eight games, including the 15-7 decision to Radford, which was part of a five-game losing streak. Alex Perez leads the team with a .363 batting average. Packy Naughton is scheduled to make just his second start of the season in 16 previous appearances. VT is 6-10 on the road this season.

Radford won its series at Coastal Carolina to move into sole possession of first place in the Big South race. RU has won 18 of its last 21 games. The Highlanders begins the week #20 in the college baseball RPI. The Highlanders just 13 spots this week from #33. RU now has back-to-back Big South Players of the Week in Josh Gardiner and Hunter Higgerson. Mitchell MacKeith was this week's Big South Pitcher of the Week. Gardiner leads the team with a .367 batting average. Ridgely is scheduled to make his 12th overall appearance and fifth start of the season.
