SCOUTING UNC ASHEVILLE
  • Record: 12-5, 5-0 Big South
  • UNC Asheville has won 10 of its last 11 games and five in a row, including four in conference play.
  • The Bulldogs overcame an early double-digit deficit to win at Charleston Southern 83-73 last Saturday. In their prior game, they rallied from 23 down in the second half to beat Winthrop by one.
  • Their other Big South wins came at Longwood and Liberty and at home versus Campbell.
  • UNCA's only loss since in November was an 86-81 non-conference decision to Elon on Dec. 21, which followed the team's six-point victory at Georgetown.

A three-time Big South Freshman of the Week honoree, including this week, he has scored in double figures in eight of the last nine games and grabbed at least 12 rebounds in five contests on the season.
  • Smith, also a 6-foot-5 guard, claimed the league's rookie award last week and leads the team with 13.0 points a game despite only starting the last two games. His 38 3-pointers are also a team-high, while shooting 39 percent from behind the arc. He has had four games with 20 or more points, including 23 against CSU.
