RADFORD PUTS PERFECT BIG SOUTH HOME MARK ON LINE WEDNESDAY



SETTING THE STAGE
  • Radford looks to remain unbeaten in conference play at home and win its fifth straight at the Dedmon Center overall when it plays host to Campbell in Big South action Wednesday night.
  • Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.
  • Series: Radford leads 19-14
  • Last meeting: Radford 72, Campbell 55 (Jan. 15, 2015)
  • The Highlanders have won the last two meetings, including one last year when they held Campbell to 19 first-half points on its homecourt.
  • Radford posted an 82-78 victory in the Camels' last visit to Dedmon two seasons ago and are 11-4 all-time in the series at home.

HIGHLANDER HIGHLIGHTS
  • Record: 10-9, 3-4 Big South
  • Radford is 7-1 on the season following a loss and has alternated wins and defeats for the last eight games.
  • Senior guard Rashun Davis needs four assists to become the fourth RU player to record 400 for his career. He is poised to join 20 other players in Big South history with 1,000 career points and 400 assists.
  • Davis shares the conference lead with 4.6 assists per game, while ranking seventh in scoring (14.3) and third for second in steals (1.8).
  • Ed Polite, Jr. is the reigning Big South Freshman of the Week, after averaging 14.5 points, 12.5 rebounds and 3.0 blocks and posting his third and fourth double-doubles of the season last week. He is tied for third in the league in that category.
  • Polite, Jr. now ranks seventh in the conference with 6.9 rebounds per game and third with 1.5 blocks. He remains second among NCAA freshman with 3.47 offensive rebounds per contest.
  • Cameron Jones hit 4 of 7 3-point attempts Saturday against Presbyterian, giving him five games this season with at least four treys. He ranks fifth in the Big South in 3-point percentage at 38.4, while averaging 12.2 points per game.
  • Justin Cousin extended his streak of games with two made 3-pointers to six in a row. He has averaged 9.5 points per game while hitting 12 of 29 (41 percent) from long-range during that time. He has also scored at least eight points in each of the last six outings – including double-digits three times – after tallying eight just twice previously in his career.
  • Radford remains the Big South leader with 39.8 rebounds and 14.2 offensive boards per game, now ranking 15th nationally in the latter.
  • The Highlanders remain second in the league in blocks, as Polite, Jr. ranks third with 28 and Brandon Holcomb is sixth with 22.
  • Radford has not led at halftime in any of its last six conference games, trailing in five of them.
 
SCOUTING CAMPBELL
  • Record: 8-10, 2-6 Big South
  • Campbell enters on a five-game losing streak in conference play and has dropped seven of its last eight overall.
  • Four of the five Big South defeats were by seven points or fewer, including a pair of three-point setbacks on the road.
  • The Fighting Camels dropped an 82-75 at home to Charleston Southern on Saturday. Their last win came at Winthrop on New Year's Eve.
  • Guard Chris Clemons is one of the Big South's top freshmen, ranking fourth in the league with 17.7 points per game, sixth-best among freshmen in the nation.
  • The Raleigh, N.C. product ranks fifth in the country with 153 3-point attempts, making a league-high 58 for an average of 3.2 per game, while shooting 37.9 percent behind the arc.
  • Clemons has reached double figures in all but one game this season, while scoring at least 26 five times, including the Charleston Southern game.
  • Senior forward D.J. Mason leads the way on the inside, ranking second in the Big South in rebounding with 7.9 per game while scoring 11.9 ppg. He is averaging 13.6 points and 8.4 rebounds in conference play.
  • Sophomore guard Troy Harper is second on the squad with 13.2 ppg, while junior guard Kyre' Hamer is also in double figures at 10.4 per game, along with a team-best 2.1 assists.
  • Campbell has averaged just 63.0 points during its five-game losing streak and ranks 10th in conference play in both field-goal percentage (41.0) and field-goal percentage defense (48.4).
  • The Camels are also next to last in rebounding (30.3) and blocked shots (1.5). Their 7.5 3-pointers per game against conference foes rank fourth, but they are ninth in percentage (30.8).
