  • Records: Gardner-Webb (13-6, 7-2 Big South) | Radford (10-8, 6-3 Big South)
  • Location: Paul Porter Arena | Boiling Springs, N.C.

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – Radford saw its five-game Big South winning streak snapped at the hands of Gardner-Webb, 54-50, despite a 15-point and 21-rebound effort from Janayla White, Saturday afternoon inside Paul Porter Arena.

White grabbed 21 of Radford's 51 rebounds, including eight on the offensive glass. Joining White in double figures, Jayda Worthy finished with 13 points and Aisha Foy followed with 11 points.

Leading 43-40 after three quarters, the Highlanders scored the lone point of the opening four minutes of the final stanza. From there, Gardner-Webb forced two RU turnovers, which led to four straight points by Alexus Hill that knotted the game at 44 with 5:57 remaining in regulation.

The Highlanders answered back on a White offensive rebound and layup, taking a 46-44 lead. The Runnin' Bulldogs relied heavily on Hill in the final stanza, as three of her nine points in the stanza gave GWU a 48-46 lead with 3:41 left.

Lydia Rivers tied the game at 48 on a layup, but three Highlander turnovers led to GWU outscoring RU, 6-2, to close out the contest.

Gardner-Webb's comeback victory can be attributed to finishing the third quarter on an 11-2 run.

Radford was unable to continue their hot start to the contest as the Highlanders opened up with a 10-2 lead, highlighted by five straight points by Worthy, including her first 3-pointer on the year.

RU will return to Big South action on Tuesday hosting High Point, as the Highlanders seek revenge for its first Big South loss of the season. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. inside the Dedmon Center.

QUOTABLE
  • "I thought we were very solid in the first half. Toward the end of the third quarter and the fourth, we got a little rattled. I have to credit Gardner-Webb with some of that. They extended their pressure and got us out of a flow. This game was a tale of two halves. We got outscored by 11 points in the second half. That's one thing Gardner-Webb has done all year, putting together strong fourth quarters. This was a good game to motivate us to get better. Today felt like a conference tournament game." ~ Radford head coach, Mike McGuire
