RADFORD, Va. – Radford fought its way all the way back from an eight-point, second-half deficit before Kat Harris drove the lane for the game-winning bucket to give High Point a 56-54 road victory over the Highlanders in Big South women's basketball action Tuesday night inside the Dedmon Center.

Janayla White and Jayda Worthy paced the Highlanders with 17 points each. White's strong performance came on 8 of 8 shooting, including 10 rebounds for her sixth double-double of the season.

Trailing 52-46 with under two minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, Aisha Foy drilled a deep 3-pointer from the top of the key and White followed with a layup, highlighting a 5-0 run for RU. The clutch baskets pulled the Highlanders within 52-51 with 42.8 seconds remaining in regulation.

High Point received a big basket from Shea Morgan, beating the shot clock with 16.3 seconds remaining, extending the Panthers lead to 54-51.

However, Foy responded with the equalizer as she swished a game-tying 3-pointer from the right wing to knot the game at 54 with nine seconds remaining in the fourth stanza.

Poised for overtime, the Panthers had other intentions as they called timeout to advance the ball to halfcourt. Out of the timeout, Harris was able to split the Radford defense for the game-winner and hand the Highlanders just their second home loss of the season.

Emma Bockrath led High Point with 17 points on 7 of 16 shooting.

Radford will look to regroup when it hosts Big South co-leader UNC Asheville Saturday at 2 p.m. inside the Dedmon Center. The Highlanders swept the 2014-15 season series and lead the all-time series, 48-19. The conference tilt will be followed by Radford's annual alumnae game.

QUOTABLE
  • "I want to credit High Point. I thought they played a really good basketball game. I thought they demonstrated why they are getting better. They were very unselfish and played really good team ball on both ends. We seemed a little bit out of sorts tonight for whatever reason. As poorly as I thought we played in the first half, we were still in the game. Even though the game wasn't smooth, we had some grit to come back and tie it. Again, the big thing for us moving forward is we are playing well enough defensively to compete, but we have to improve our offense. The past two games we have scored 50 and 54 points, respectively. We have to improve on the offensive end." ~ Radford head coach, Mike McGuire
