LYNCHBURG, Va. – A strong second quarter run by Liberty was too much to overcome as Radford dropped a 67-53 Big South decision, Sunday afternoon inside the Vines Center.

Aisha Foy paced the Highlanders with a 14-point effort on 6 of 12 shooting from the field. Janayla White followed with 11 points, finishing 5 for 7 from the floor.

The Highlanders opened the contest on a 6-2 run, leading 16-13 after one quarter of play as Gaby Gilmore paced RU with five early points.

Rachael Ross gave RU an 18-15 lead with 6:12 remaining in the first half. Liberty would catch fire, closing out the half on a 14-4 run, highlighted by five straight points by KK Barbour to send the Flames to the locker room with a 29-22 advantage.

Radford would cut the Flames lead to five points (39-34) on a White steal, leading to a Gilmore fastbreak layup, but the Highlanders were unable to inch closer as they fell, 67-53.

RU will have a quick turnaround as they host Gardner-Webb on Tuesday for a Big South clash. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. as the Highlanders will playing their annual Play 4Kay game.

QUOTABLE
  • "I thought we were solid for the first quarter and a half. The second quarter, we missed some opportunities and we didn't respond well to their mini run. The last four minutes of the second quarter was the difference in the game and it was an uphill battle the rest of the way. We played as hard as we have in a very long time, we just have to do it consistently." ~ Radford head coach, Mike McGuire
