RADFORD, Va. – Janayla White converted a layup through traffic off an inbounds pass with less than two seconds on the clock to lift Radford over Presbyterian College, 42-40, Tuesday night in a battle for fourth place in the Big South women's basketball standings.

Combined with High Point's 68-65 loss to Campbell, the Highlanders secured a first-round bye for next week's conference tournament. Ironically, Radford and PC will play each other again in the No. 4 vs. No. 5 game. That matchup will take place Friday, March 11 at 2 p.m. in the quarterfinals of the 2016 Big South Women's Basketball Championship.

White, who delivered her 10th double-double of the season, finished 6 of 8 from the floor en route to game highs in points (14) and rebounds (11). She scored 12 of her points in the first half, but was held without a field goal until her game-winner.

On the strength of White's first-half performance, the Highlanders connected on 52.2 percent of their shots on their way to a 30-17 advantage at the break.

However, PC turned the tables in the second half, holding Radford to 22.2 percent shooting and only 12 points. Taylor Petty, who scored all eight of her points after halftime, converted three free throws with four seconds remaining in regulation to tie the contest for the fourth time.

After an RU timeout, which advanced the ball to halfcourt, a play was called for White to receive a lob pass underneath the Highlanders' basket. However, the Blue Hose defense denied the entry, poking it out of bounds with two seconds showing on the clock.

With Gaby Gilmore underneath the hoop, she threaded a pass into White who muscled up through traffic and spun in the game-winner.

The Highlanders, who held Presbyterian to 28.3 percent shooting for the contest, recorded eight blocks—three by White. They notched 10 in the first meeting in Clinton, S.C.

Janie Miles chalked up 13 points on 5 of 8 shooting to pace the Blue Hose.

Radford heads to Buies Creek, N.C. for Saturday's regular-season finale against Campbell. Due to the semifinals of the 2016 Big South Men's Basketball Championship being played earlier in the day, the game will tip no sooner than 7:30 p.m. from Gore Arena.

QUOTABLE
"First, I want to credit Presbyterian. They played really hard. I really admire how Coach [Ronny] Fisher's program plays. They made the game very difficult for us tonight. This was one of those games where it's hard for either team to lose. It came down to the final possession. But this game exemplifies what our team has been about all year long. We just had to gut one out and find a way. That's been the mantra of our team this year. They just have a no-quit attitude, so I'm very proud of them getting this last home win and winning 11 home games this year. I'm proud of this group and what they've fought through. I can't say enough about their mindset and their effort." ~ Radford head coach, Mike McGuire
