NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Conner Lewis tied his career-best start to a tournament in leading the Radford men's golf team in Monday's opening 36 holes of the Bash at the Beach hosted by Appalachian State. The two-day tournament is being contested at The Surf Golf and Beach Club (par 71, 6,741 yards).

The Highlanders are sixth in the team standings at 576 (287-289). However, they are only one shot behind Western Kentucky, Gardner-Webb and Appalachian State, who are all tied for third place at 575.

Behind a 12-under-par 272 in its second round, James Madison soared seven positions and carries a three-shot advantage over Arkansas State for first place entering Tuesday's final round.

Lewis, who carded a 1-over-par 143 (71-72), is tied with teammate Myles Creighton and five other golfers for 13^th place on the individual leaderboard. After getting off to a rocky start in his morning round, Lewis reeled off three birdies over his final five holes to finish even-par.

Creighton was equally as hot, rolling in three birdies in a seven-hole stretch during his second round to notch the Highlanders' lone under-par round of the day at 1-under-par 70.

Conner Hayden led all Radford golfers with eight birdies and is tied for 20^th at 2-over-par 144 (72-72). Nick Brediger (146) and Gareth Sargent (157) are tied for 32^nd and 93^rd, respectively.

Appalachian State's Patrick Moriarty fired a 6-under-par 136 (71-65) and has a one-stroke edge for medalist honors over Arkansas State's Andrew Huseman.

Tuesday's final round gets underway at 8 a.m.
