HIGHLANDERS HEAD TO BUIES CREEK FOR SATURDAY SHOWDOWN WITH CAMPBELL



RADFORD, Va. – The Radford women's lacrosse team continues its road stretch Saturday at noon when the Highlanders clash with Campbell at Barker-Lane Stadium in Buies Creek, N.C.

HIGHLANDER HIGHLIGHTS
The Highlanders (1-8, 0-2 Big South) suffered a heart-breaking 14-13 setback to Gardner-Webb Wednesday evening in Boiling Springs, N.C.
 
Adrian Rius put RU on top with six minutes to go, but the Runnin' Bulldogs responded with two goals in a span of 33 seconds to propel them to the Big South victory. Rius and Emma Rogers led the Highlanders with four goals apiece.
 
On the strength of her impressive performance at Gardner-Webb, Rogers became the first Highlander in program history to reach 20 goals in a single season. Gracie Peterson is right behind with 19 goals.
 
Rius continues to lead the conference in draw controls per game (4.33). Meanwhile, Hannah Rosen holds the top mark for saves per game (12.22) and ground balls per game (3.78). She tallied a game-high 14 saves against Gardner-Webb.
 
SCOUTING CAMPBELL
The Camels (5-6, 1-1 Big South) are coming off a 15-10 loss to High Point at home Wednesday night. Loren Day, who is the NCAA Division I scoring leader with 44, delivered four goals in the defeat. Behind her four goals per game average, Day leads the conference in that category.
 
Campbell's loss to High Point snapped a two-game winning streak, which featured its first Big South win of the season—20-10 at Gardner-Webb.
 
Erica Hitch leads the league in assists per game (2.91), while Merredith Bechler averages 4.45 saves per game.
 
The Camels are strong on the draw, averaging 13.55 per game, which rank second in the Big South.
 
UP NEXT
Radford is off until next Saturday when the Highlanders host Presbyterian College at Cupp Stadium. Opening draw is scheduled for 12 p.m.
