HIGGERSON AND HRBEK COLLECT TWO HITS EACH IN 5-1 LOSS TO CAMPBELL

The Camels' bats came out of the gate full force, scoring three runs on four hits in the opening frame. With two outs, Brian Taylor and Matt Parrish reached via singles. Zach Minnick followed with a two-run double down the right field line, giving Campbell an early 2-0 lead.

One batter later, Jimmy Monaghan singled through the right side to score Minnick as the Camels opened the second game of the series with a 3-0 lead.

After only managing one hit through the first two innings, Radford started to find some offense in the third. Colby Higgerson and Luke Wise collected a pair of one-out singles.

Following Higgerson getting picked off second base by the Campbell catcher, Chris Coia lifted a fly ball to left field. Making his first collegiate start, Marcus Chan dropped the fly ball, allowing Wise to score from first.

The Campbell error pulled Radford within 3-1 after three innings.

After allowing four hits in the first inning, RU starter Dylan Nelson settled into a groove, surrendering only two hits over the next four innings.

Campbell would plate two runs in the sixth on a Nelson wild pitch and Ben Calvano bunt single.

Austin Ross came out of the Radford bullpen in relief, allowing two hits in 3.1 innings. With Ross's lights out performance, the Highlander bats only collected two hits over the final three innings, dropping game two by a score of 5-1.

The rubber matchup between the two foes is set for a 2 p.m. start tomorrow at RU Baseball Stadium.
