CHRISTIE ROGERS JOINS WOMEN'S BASKETBALL COACHING STAFF

RADFORD, Va. – Radford head coach Mike McGuire announced the addition of Christie Rogers as an assistant coach on his women's basketball staff Wednesday afternoon.

"I have been fortunate to have some outstanding assistant coaches with me during my first three years at Radford, and Christie will be the next as a great assistant coach for our program," McGuire said. "I am thrilled Christie chose to join our basketball family at Radford. Christie has a great coaching background and tremendous experience that will help our program in several areas."

In her role with the Highlanders, Rogers will serve as recruiting coordinator. Her other primary duties will be guard player development, small group academics and scouting.

Rogers comes to RU following four seasons as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for Towson. In her time with the Tigers, Rogers coached four All-Colonial Athletic performers, including the CAA's leading scorer in 2012-13 and 2013-14.

"I am absolutely thrilled to be joining the Radford family. Coach McGuire is someone I've always been extremely impressed by and what he has been able to accomplish in a short time at Radford has been incredible," Rogers said. "I am elated to be working with high character student-athletes, while helping mentor them into becoming the best players and people they can be. I could not be more excited to be a Highlander."

She is no stranger to the Big South, having served in the same capacity for Winthrop during the 2011-12 season. With the Eagles, Rogers directed all recruiting efforts, signing a Top-100 class.

Prior to Winthrop, Rogers served as a graduate assistant at Clemson, assisting in all aspects of the program. She was responsible for all video coordinating tasks and assisted with recruiting.

Before joining Clemson's staff, Rogers was a coaches' intern for the WNBA's Washington Mystics. Rogers assisted in conducting individual workouts, scouting opponents and planning practices.

Rogers played collegiately at St. Mary's College of Maryland and Washington (Md.). She finished her career at Washington, serving as team captain for three seasons.

A native of Davidsonville, Md., Rogers earned a bachelor's degree in psychology from Washington in 2009. She is currently pursuing a master's degree in youth development leadership from Clemson.

"Christie will coordinate our recruiting and I look forward to her impact immediately," McGuire noted. "Most importantly, Christie is a passionate and driven person that will help our student-athletes on a daily basis. She is a great fit and I'm excited to work with her."
