LIVE STATS  |  LIVE VIDEO (WAKE FOREST)  |  LIVE VIDEO (NORFOLK STATE)  |  LIVE VIDEO (ST. FRANCIS)

RADFORD, Va. – The Radford volleyball team is set to open the season at home for the second straight year as it co-hosts the Radford/Virginia Tech Invitational, Friday and Saturday, inside the Dedmon Center.

RU begins the 2016 campaign by taking on ACC member Wake Forest, Friday at 12 p.m. The Highlanders will then face Norfolk State and St. Francis (N.Y.) on Saturday at 3 p.m. and 6 p.m., respectively.

Twelve returners, led by seniors Kelby Jackson and Emma Wroblicky, juniors Maddie Palmer and Kaylor Nash, and sophomores Haley Kleespies and Valerie Gonzalez, are joined by six freshmen on this year's squad as Marci Jenkins begins her ninth season.

Jackson led the team with 425 digs last year, while Palmer was second in kills (336), despite missing eight matches due to injury. Kleespies was the Big South's leader in assists per set, totaling 1,040 on her way to earning Big South all-freshman team honors.

Radford was victorious in this tournament last year, going a perfect 3-0, including a win over Pac-12 member Washington State and a comeback victory over Elon.

Appalachian State, Siena, UMBC will also take part in this year's tournament, along with Virginia Tech.
