RADFORD HOSTS HIGH POINT ON TUESDAY; LOOKS FOR SIXTH STRAIGHT WIN



SETTING THE STAGE
  • Radford is currently riding a five-game winning streak with four coming in Big South play as the Highlanders can open conference play with a 5-0 record for the first time since the 1997-98 season as the Highlanders play host to High Point on Tuesday for a 7 p.m. clash.
  • Series: High Point, 26-17
  • Radford holds a 16-5 advantage inside the Dedmon Center.
  • High Point has won seven out of the last nine regular season matchups, winning four out of the last five inside the Dedmon Center.

HIGHLANDER HIGHLIGHTS
  • Record: 12-3, 4-0 Big South
  • Radford won their two Big South matchups last week by a combined score of 134-97.
  • The Highlanders won their fifth straight matchup over Longwood with a 73-55 decision on Saturday.
  • In the win, Radford placed four in double-figures for the fourth time on the season (UNC Greensboro, Concord, Winthrop and Longwood).
  • Jayda Worthy led all scorers with a career-high 24 points on 11 of 13 shooting to go along with her 10 rebounds. In the last five games, Worthy has tallied 88 points with 75 coming in Big South play.
  • Worthy's efforts in the two games earned herself the Big South Player of the Week award for the second straight week. In a pair of Big South wins over Campbell and Longwood, Worthy averaged 20.5 points per game and 9.5 rebounds per game.
  • She tallied 41 points on 18 of 22 shooting, including a 2 for 3 clip from behind the arc in 61 minutes of action. The junior also grabbed 19 rebounds with 12 coming on the offensive glass.
  • In the win over Longwood, Worthy made her first six shots to start the game and finished 11 for 13 from the field, setting another career high with 11 made field goals.
  • Through four Big South games, Worthy is shooting 75.6 percent from the floor, making 31 of 41 attempts. She leads the conference in scoring with 18.8 ppg, scoring 75 points in the four league games. On the season, Worthy now has a team-high four double-doubles and 10 in her career.
  • Rounding out the Highlanders in double-figures against Longwood, Destinee Walker missed matching her career high, falling one-point shy with a 21-point effort. Sydney Nunley followed with her first career double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds. Claudia Quevedo collected 11 points on three 3-pointers.
  • Walker just missed her fourth double-double on the season with 21 points and nine rebounds. Walker made a career-high four 3-pointers on six attempts.
  • Nunley put together one of the most proficient performances for Radford in 20 minutes of action off the bench, finishing with 12 points, 10 rebounds, two steals, two blocks and one assist.
  • Radford has dished out 80 assists over the last five games with 65 coming in Big South play. The Highlanders finished with a season-high 20 assists in the win over Longwood.
  • Jen Falconer has collected 19 assists in the four Big South games for 4.8 per contest.
  • Offensively, Radford has shot over 45-percent from the field in four out of their last five games. The Highlanders are shooting 41.8 percent on the season and 45.1 percent in Big South play.
  • On the defense, Radford ranks fifth in the nation with a 33.4 field goal percentage defense. The Highlanders are only allowing conference teams to shoot 35.8 percent.
  • Opponents are averaging a mere 53.7 points per game, which ranks Radford as the 10th best scoring defense in the country. In Big South play, opponents are averaging 51.0 ppg.
  • Matching a season low in fouls last time out with seven, Radford ranks eighth in the country in fewest fouls committed with 213.  
 
SCOUTING HIGH POINT
  • Record: 4-11, 2-2 Big South
  • High Point snapped a two-game skid in Big South play with a 76-60 road win over preseason favorite UNC Asheville on Saturday.
  • In the win, Camryn Brown led the Panthers with 16 points off the bench, finishing the contest a perfect 10 for 10 from the charity stripe. Emma Bockrath followed with 14 points and Kaylah Keys chipped in 13 points.
  • Keys is averaging 11.6 ppg for 10th best in the conference and Bockrath follows in 13th with 10.9 ppg. Kat Harris rounds out the Panthers in double-figures with 10.5 ppg for 14th in the league.
  • Bockrath has enjoyed a strong start to Big South play; averaging 15.3 points, 8.3 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.3 steals per game through the four contests.
  • Keys needs 54 rebounds, 21 assists and 13 steals to become the first Panther in the team's NCAA Division I era to rack up 400 rebounds, 300 assists and 200 steals in a career.
  • High Point boasts the Big South's best scoring offense with 67.6 ppg, but possess the seventh worst defense in the league with 68.8 points allowed per contest.
  • The Panthers are the conference's best free throw shooting team with a 75.8 average, which ranks 32nd in the country.
  • Harris is 41 for 47 (.872) from the charity stripe this season, which is good for second in the Big South and 30th in the country.
  • In addition to their free throw percentage, High Point leads the conference with a 33.7 3-point field goal percentage, making 97 of 288 attempts in 15 games.

  • Radford returns to action on Saturday with a road trip to Charleston Southern for a 3 p.m. contest.
