RADFORD AND CAMPBELL MEET IN A BATTLE OF BIG SOUTH UNBEATENS



SETTING THE STAGE
  • After kicking off Big South opening week with two wins for the first time since 2011, Radford will look to win its fourth straight game over Campbell as the Highlanders and Camels clash in a Tuesday night battle of conference unbeatens.  
  • Series: Radford, 22-12
  • Radford snapped a five-game skid to the Camels in 2015 after winning five in a row themselves.
  • The Highlanders swept the two contests a season ago.

HIGHLANDER HIGHLIGHTS
  • Record: 10-3, 2-0 Big South
  • Radford collected a pair of 10-point wins last week with a 67-57 decision over Gardner-Webb and a 60-50 victory over Winthrop.
  • In the two wins, Radford went 49 for 117 for a 41.9 field goal percentage. The Highlanders made 13 3-pointers, while making 16 of 24 free throws.
  • The Highlanders played unselfish basketball, dishing out 32 assists. Radford has racked up 47 assists over the last three games.
  • Radford ranks third in the conference with 159 assists and 12.2 per contest.
  • Three Highlanders are averaging two-plus assists per game. Jayda Worthy (2.2), Jen Falconer (2.2) and Destinee Walker (2.0).
  • Over the first two Big South games, Falconer has totaled 10 assists to rank second in the conference. Walker followed with nine assists, ranking tied for third place.
  • Worthy got off to a fantastic start to conference play as the junior averaged 17.0 points per game, 8.0 rebounds per game, 2.5 assists per game and 2.0 steals per game.
  • The Toledo, Ohio native tallied 34 points on 13 of 19 shooting with an 8 for 10 clip from the free throw line.
  • Against Gardner-Webb, Worthy poured in a career-high 20 points on 7 of 9 shooting. She collected her third double-double on the season with a 14-point, 12-rebound effort over Winthrop. In the contest, Worthy dished our four assists for the fourth time on the season.
  • Now registering on the Big South field goal percentage ranks, Worthy leads the league with a 57.8 percentage, making 52 of 90 attempts. She ranks fifth in the league with a 73.3 free throw percentage.
  • In the win over Winthrop, Radford placed four players in double-figures for the third time on the season. Sydney Nunley, Walker and Falconer followed Worthy with 10 points apiece.
  • Falconer made a game and career-high three 3-pointers, her first double-digit point performance since Dec. 12, 2015.
  • Radford's defense, which ranks as one of the best in the country, forced 36 turnovers last week. The Highlanders scored 41 points off the miscues.
  • Against Winthrop, Radford turned the ball over a season-low nine times, marking the first time the Highlanders committed less than 10 turnovers since Feb. 7, 2015.
  • The Highlanders moved back inside the Top 10 nationally in field goal percentage defense after a strong defensive showing to start league play. Radford ranks 10th as opponents are only shooting 33.3 against the Highlander defense.
  • Radford committed a season-low seven fouls against Winthrop, ranking eighth in the country in fewest fouls committed with 190.
  • The Highlanders are 17th nationally in scoring defense, allowing only 54.5 points per game.
 
SCOUTING CAMPBELL
  • Record: 10-3, 2-0 Big South
  • The Camels are riding a seven-game winning streak after holding their sixth opponent under 40 points.
  • The winning streak is the longest in program history since the 2000-01 season.  
  • Campbell leads the country in scoring defense as opponents are only managing 45.8 points against the Camel defense.
  • On the season, Campbell has only allowed opposing teams to score more than 55 points five times.
  • Just edging the Highlanders, Campbell stands sixth nationally with a 32.8 field goal percentage defense.
  • Opposing teams have only made 37 of 155 attempted 3-pointers for a 23.9 percentage. On the other hand, Campbell has only managed a 28.1 shooting percentage from behind the arc.
  • Offensively, Campbell is led by Summer Price (12.2 ppg) and Makala Rouse (10.1 ppg).
  • Six Camels are averaging five-plus points per game.
  • Rouse holds a 46.0 shooting clip (52-113) and Price (57-137) follows with a 41.6 percentage.
  • Campbell is the worst free throw shooting team in the Big South, compiling a 57.6 free throw percentage.
  • Tiffany Daniel (16-25, 64.0%) and Hannah Long (32-53, 60.4%) give the Camels smart scoring options in the paint.
  • Campbell is averaging 61.5 points per game, shooting 40.7 percent from the floor.
  • Hayley Barber, Breanna Cribb, Caroline Bowns, Price and Rouse are responsible for 125 of Campbell's 154 assists.
  • Barber leads the way with 2.4 assists per game in only 19.5 minutes per contest. Following Barber are Price (2.1), Cribb (2.0), Rouse (1.8) and Bowns (1.2).
  • Campbell leads the league with 120 steals, averaging 9.2 per game, while forcing 18.5 turnovers per contest.
  • Rouse is tied with a league best 2.3 steals per game, totaling 30 in 13 games. Price follows in sixth place with 1.7 per game.
 
UP NEXT
  • Radford returns to the Dedmon Center on Saturday, hosting in-state Longwood for a 2 p.m. matchup.
  • The Highlanders are 23-13 in the all-time series.
  • Radford swept the season series during the 2016 Big South season.
