KLEESPIES NAMED BIG SOUTH DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Haley Kleespies was named Big South Conference Defensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday, for her performance against Liberty and Presbyterian last week.

"Haley had a solid week in all statistical categories and that balance in a setter can sometimes be rare," Marci Jenkins said. " I'm really glad she was recognized for the first time this year!"

Kleespies led the team in digs per set with 3.44, which was seventh best in the conference last week alone. The junior recorded back-to-back double-doubles for last weeks play. She tallied 48 assists with a season-high 16 digs against Liberty and followed that up with a season-high 51 assists and 15 digs against Presbyterian.

She was one assist shy of recording 100 for the week and averaged 11 assists per set, which ranked third in the conference last week. The West Grove, Pa., native added a combined three service aces and nine kills against the Flames and Blue Hose.

Kleespies and the rest of the Radford squad will face UNC Asheville and Winthrop inside the Dedmon Center on Friday and Saturday, respectively. The UNC Asheville match will start at 7 p.m., while the Winthrop match is set for 4 p.m.
