SETTING THE STAGE

Radford (1-0) enters the contest already with a win over a school from the Tar Heel State and North Carolina (1-1) dropped its season opening game to a member of the Commonwealth.
The Highlanders enter the contest with 18 wins over Atlantic Coast Conference opponents.
A season ago, Radford defeated ACC foe Wake Forest 68-60 for head coach Mike McGuire's first win over a Power 5 opponent and the program's first since 2007.
Radford is looking to defeat ACC opponents in back-to-back seasons for the third time in program history (87-88, 88-89, 06-07, 07-08).
The Highlanders are looking to start the season 2-0 for the first time since 2013.
The last time Radford opened the season with two wins over NCAA Division I opponents came in 1978 with wins over William & Mary (87-69) and Wake Forest (83-75). The Highlanders were classified as an NCAA Division II institution.

SERIES HISTORY

The two teams have met 10 times in the all-time series with North Carolina holding a 7-3 edge.
In the last meeting between the two, then No. 21 North Carolina collected a 64-44 win over Radford on Dec. 5, 2012.
As a NCAA Division I school, Radford owns two wins over North Carolina. The Highlanders defeated the Tar Heels 91-81 at home in 1987 and 72-70 on the road in 1989.

HIGHLANDER HIGHLIGHTS

Sparked by a 21-4 run late in the game, Radford placed four players in double-figures as the Highlanders opened the season with a 61-40 victory over Appalachian State, Sunday afternoon inside the Dedmon Center.
With the win, Radford has won six straight home openers inside the Dedmon Center, dating back to 2010.
Radford improves to 24-23 all-time in season openers and 3-2 during the Mike McGuire era.
Only holding a 36-30 lead after three periods, Radford took a commanding fourth quarter advantage after outscoring the Mountaineers 25-10 in the 10-minute period.
Placing four players in double-figures for the first time since March 17, Radford assisted on 20 of its 24 made field goals. The Highlanders only assisted on 20 field goals one time a season ago.
After performing well in Radford's exhibition, Jen Falconer led the Highlanders with a game-high 15 points on five 3-pointers. The five 3-pointers set a new career high for the redshirt sophomore.
She becomes the first Highlanders to make five-plus 3-pointers since Aisha Foy at Campbell on Jan. 11, 2016.
Falconer tallied 15 points for the third time in her career with the last coming against Concord on Dec. 12, 2015, while marking only the second-time Falconer has led the Highlanders in points.
Jayda Worthy followed with 14 points and seven rebounds. The 14-point effort marks the 46th time in her career that she has scored 10-plus points.
Worthy is now 88 points from becoming the 22nd player in program history with 1,000 points.
Finishing with 10 points on a 5 for 7 shooting effort from the floor and corralling 10 rebounds, Janayla White collected her 24th career double-double. White now has six double-doubles in Radford's last seven games dating back to the 2016-17 season.
Scoring double-figures in 13 games a season ago, Khiana Johnson opened her sophomore campaign with 12 points off the bench.
Claudia Quevedo led four different Highlanders with three-plus assists as the redshirt junior matched a career best with five assists.
Falconer followed with four assists, while Destinee Walker and Johnson finished with three each.
Only being outrebounded 11 times a season ago, Radford opened the season with a 42-33 edge on the boards, turning 16 offensive rebounds into 13 points.

SCOUTING NORTH CAROLINA

Having already played two games to start the season, North Carolina is averaging 76.5 points per game, while opponents are averaging 75.0.
After dropping the season opener to Hampton on Friday, the Tar Heels bounced back with an 87-80 overtime win against Colorado on Sunday.
The Tar Heels have yet to lead at halftime, trailing Hampton 39-32 and Colorado 47-32.
Of the 153 points scored on the season by the Tar Heels, 78 have come in the paint.
North Carolina looks to create transitional points with 37 in two games.
On the other side, opponents have forced 45 Tar Heel turnovers, turning them into 49 points.
Paris Kea leads way in scoring with two 20-point games to start the year. Kea is averaging 26 ppg and is 21 for 38 from the floor for a 55.3 field-goal percentage.
Kea is responsible for 15 of North Carolina's 39 assists.
Three other players join Kea in double-figures as Jamie Cherry (18.0 ppg), Jocelyn Jones (12.5 ppg) and Janelle Bailey (11.0 ppg) have all scored double-digits in the two games.
Coming off the bench in both games, Jones leads the team with 9.5 rebounds per game.
North Carolina holds a +6.0 rebounding margin (41.5-35.5).
As a team, the Tar Heels are shooting 47.3 percent from the field, but having the play catchup in the first two games hold a 25.8 shooting clip behind the arc.

UP NEXT

Radford continues its road swing as the Highlanders travel to Tennessee Tech Nov. 20 for the second time in program history.
The last time the Highlanders played in Cookeville, Tenn., came on Nov. 28, 1987 in a 60-59 loss in the Tennessee Tech Classic.
A season ago, Radford evened the all-time series with a dominating 79-46 victory on Nov. 23, 2016.
Destinee Walker and Janayla White finished with 16 points each, while Jayda Worthy chipped in 10 off the bench.
Ten different Highlanders scored in the win as Radford shot 48.1 percent from the field.
