RADFORD TRAVELS TO TENN TECH FOR MONDAY MEETING



GAME INFORMATION  
SETTING THE STAGE
  • Radford (1-1) and Tennessee Tech (1-2) meet in a battle of two teams looking to collect its first win since the two squad's season openers. The Highlanders opened the season on Nov. 12, while the Golden Eagles started the campaign on Nov. 10.
  • The Highlanders look to start the season 2-1 for the second straight year, while the Golden Eagles hope to avoid having to play seven games to collect their second win like a season ago.
  • Radford continues its span of four road games in a five-game stretch. After the home opener on Nov. 12, Radford will only play two home games in its next eight games.
  • On the other side of the benches, Tennessee Tech will play its only home game in a six-game stretch dating to Dec. 7.
 
SERIES HISTORY
  • Radford and Tennessee Tech are knotted 1-1 in the all-time series.
  • The last time the Highlanders played in Cookeville, Tenn., came on Nov. 28, 1987 in a 60-59 loss in the Tennessee Tech Classic.
  • A season ago, Radford evened the all-time series with a dominating 79-46 victory on Nov. 23, 2016.
  • Destinee Walker and Janayla White finished with 16 points each, while Jayda Worthy chipped in 10 off the bench.
  • Ten different Highlanders scored in the win as Radford shot 48.1 percent from the field.
 
HIGHLANDER HIGHLIGHTS
  • Last time out, Destinee Walker paced Radford with a team-high 12 points in a 79-46 loss to North Carolina on Thursday night as the Highlanders were unable to overcome a hot Tar Heel shooting performance.
  • In the game, North Carolina forced 22 Highlander turnovers, turning them into 25 points. Radford created 19 turnovers, only managing 13 points off the Tar Heel miscues.
  • Walker finished the game as the only Highlander in double-digits as Radford placed four in double-figures during its season opener versus Appalachian State. The junior finished 5 for 15 from the floor, dishing out two assists.
  • The 12-point performance by Walker is the 28th double-figure game of her career.
  • Khiana Johnson followed with nine points off the bench. The sophomore leads the team with 10.5 points per game.
  • Of the 11 players to step on the court for the Highlanders, 10 scored.
  • Despite shooting 25 percent from the field, Radford 15 of 19 free throw attempts for a 78.9 percentage.
  • The Highlanders rank second in the Big South with a 71.4 free throw percentage, making 20 of 28 attempts through two games.
  • Radford pulled down a game-high 10 offensive rebounds, turning them into six second chance points.
  • Lydia Rivers pulled down a team-high nine rebounds, including four on the offensive glass. Janayla White followed with seven rebounds.
  • With the nine-rebound effort, Rivers crossed the 300-rebound plateau in her career.
  • The duo leads the team in rebounding as White is averaging 8.5 per game, while Rivers follows with 8.0 boards a game.
  • The Highlanders hold a +1.5 rebound margin, averaging 36.0, while opponents are pulling down 34.5 per game.
  • Of Radford's 72 rebounds through two games, 26 have come on the offensive glass.
  • Radford perimeter defense has been stout this season as the Highlanders rank second in the league with a .185 3-point field goal percentage defense.
 
SCOUTING TENNESSEE TECH
  • The Golden Eagles return home for the first time in 10 days and will play their first opponent outside of the Volunteer State.
  • A season ago, Tennessee Tech went 2-4 in home games against non-conference foes with one win coming against an NAIA member. The 2016-17 season saw the Golden Eagles go 7-7 in home games.
  • Tennessee Tech has not defeated a NCAA Division I opponent at home since Feb. 1, 2016 in an 81-71 win over UT Martin.
  • Through the first three games, Tennessee Tech is averaging 61.0 points per game. Opposing teams are averaging 66.0 per game.
  • Earning only one start in the three games, Jordan Brock leads the team with 12.0 ppg, going 11 for 27 from the field and 6 for 17 from behind the arc.
  • Yaktavia Hickson follows Brock with 10.0 ppg game, while also leading the team with 5.0 rebounds per game.
  • Following with 9.7 ppg, Akia Harris is the leading dime distributer with 3.7 per contest.
  • In the three games this season, Tennessee Tech and its opponents have been hot from the floor. The Golden Eagles hold a 40.9 field-goal percentage, while opponents are shooting 44.7 from the floor.
