VOLLEYBALL RETURNS TO DEDMON FOR THE FIRST OF A TRIO OF MATCHES




RADFORD, Va. – Winners of eight straight matches, the Radford volleyball team returns home to close out the remainder of the regular season beginning with a Saturday afternoon matchup against Charleston Southern at 4 p.m.

HIGHLANDER HIGHLIGHTS (21-3, 11-2 BIG SOUTH)

•  The Highlanders (21-3, 11-2 Big South) got revenge on Halloween night with a three-set victory over Liberty in Lynchburg, Va.
•  Radford held the Flames to a .083 hitting percentage, which ties the second-lowest opponent hitting percentage when facing a Big South team.
•  In three of the last four matches, the Highlanders have held their opponents to less than a .100 hitting percentage.
•  Kaylor Nash, who averaged 6.71 digs per set last weekend, reached 1,000 career digs on Saturday and earned Big South Defensive Player of the Week.
•  Nash had 12 digs in Tuesday's match against Liberty and has recorded 10 plus digs in 10 of the last 11 matches (including seven straight).
•  Haley Kleespies surpassed 3,000 career assists against Gardner-Webb and is third all-time in the rally scoring era in that category with 3,192. The junior recorded her sixth double-double of the season on Tuesday night.
•  Maddie Palmer has 355 kills this season, which is seventh in a single-season at Radford.
•  The senior is nine kills away from being the all-time leader in kills during the rally scoring era at Radford.
•  Last time out against the Buccaneers, Valerie Gonzalez led the team with 19 kills as she and Palmer picked up double-doubles each.
•  As a team Radford has 1,184 kills and is averaging more than 13 kills per set.
•  The Highlanders are 20-4 when it comes to third set victories and have won 52 sets as opposed to opponents 20 set wins through the first three sets of a match.
 
SCOUTING CHARLESTON SOUTHERN (8-19, 3-10 BIG SOUTH)
•  Series: Radford leads 36-14 (Last Meeting: October 20, 2017 | Radford won, 3-0)
•  Charleston Southern (8-19, 3-10 Big South) is coming off a straight set defeat to Winthrop on Tuesday that eliminated the Bucs from contention in the Big South Championship.
•  Prior to traveling the Dedmon, the Buccaneers will face league-leader, High Point, on Friday night.
•  The Buccaneers are averaging 11.12 kills per set and just less than two blocks per set.
•  Hannah Western leads CSU offensively with 2.23 kills per set, while Kylie Klein has recorded the most kills for the Bucs this season (225). 
•  Madison Martin paces CSU defensively with 4.68 digs per set. Kalysia Bates ranks first in the Big South with 1.08 blocks per set.
