RADFORD RETURNS TO ACTION AGAINST LIU BROOKLYN



RADFORD, Va. - The Radford women's lacrosse team returns to action on Wednesday at 4 p.m., hosting LIU Brooklyn at Cupp Stadium.

HIGHLANDER HIGHLIGHTS
Radford (0-1) had a 6-5 halftime lead in the season opener against Saint Francis, but fell victim to a 10-4 second half run and lost, 15-10. The Highlanders finished the game with a .526 shot percentage and a .947 shot on goal percentage, both better than Saint Francis.

Adrian Rius scored four goals, tying a career-high and was 4-for-4 in shots and goals. Callie Bonnel and freshman Colleen O'Connell both had four points in the match. Bonnel recorded three goals and one assist, while O'Connell had two goals and two assists.
  
Defensively, Avery Reding and Maddie Mashewske were great in their season debuts. Reding tallied five ground ball pick-ups and caused two turnovers that led to goals. Mashewske picked up nine saves in the net in her first collegiate start and saw 24 shots come her way.
 
SCOUTING LIU BROOKLYN
The Blackbird (0-2) took a trip to the Golden State and faced Fresno State and UC Davis in their first two games of the season. LIU Brooklyn lost to Fresno State, 15-12, and fell to UC Davis, 19-7.

Mary McQueen leads the team with five goals scored this season with four coming in the season opener against Fresno State. Defensively, the Blackbirds are averaging 14 caused turnovers per game, which ranks fifth in the country and have totaled 36 ground ball pick-ups.

Radford heads down the road to Blacksburg, Va., to take on in-state rival Virginia Tech on Saturday at 7 p.m.
