RADFORD HOSTS UNC ASHEVILLE SATURDAY FOR SENIOR DAY



SETTING THE STAGE
  • Radford looks to move into a two-way tie for fourth place in most season wins in program history as the Highlanders go for their 21st win of the season on Saturday, hosting UNC Asheville in Senior Day action starting at 2 p.m.
  • The Highlanders have two games remaining on their home schedule with a quick turnaround, hosting Campbell on Monday in game that is likely to decide the Big South Regular Season Championship and top overall seed in the conference tournament.
  • Radford has won 14 games in a row on its home court with its last loss coming on Jan. 30, 2015 in a 54-46 decision to UNC Asheville.
  • In the first matchup this season, Radford escaped the Kimmel Arena with a 64-62 overtime victory. The victory marked the first overtime road win since Jan. 10, 2013.
  • Leading all scorers, Destinee Walker finished with 20 points on an 8 for 16 performance from the floor to give her four 20-point performances on the season. Khiana Johnson provided a second half spark for the Highlanders, scoring eight of her 14 points in the final 25 minutes of play.

HIGHLANDER HIGHLIGHTS
  • Record: 20-6, 12-3 Big South
  • With Tuesday's victory, Radford collected its 700th win in program history in a 51-42 decision over Gardner-Webb. The Highlanders went on a late 10-0 run over the last 6:21 to collect their 20th win of the season, the most since the 2007-08 season.
  • The Highlanders outrebounded the Runnin' Bulldogs 41-31 in the game totaling 30 defensive rebounds and grabbed 11 offensive boards, marking the 18th time on the season that Radford has outrebounded an opponent.
  • Jayda Worthy finished with a team-high 12 points and was one rebound away from her sixth double-double.
  • Worthy has led the Highlanders in scorings six times on the season, scoring double double-figures 17 times on the season.
  • In the win over Gardner-Webb, Jen Falconer dished out four assists to lead the team for the eighth time on the season.
  • Of Falconer's 55 assists, 37 have come in Big South play.
  • Radford shot 38.9 percent from the field, marking only the ninth time on the season the Highlanders have finished with a field goal percentage below 40 percent. The Highlanders are 4-5 in those games.
  • For the eighth time on the season, Radford's defense held an opponent under 50 point scored, holding a 7-1 record in those games.
  • The Highlanders rank sixth in the country with a 53.4 field goal percentage, ranking behind fellow league foe Campbell, who leads the country with a 47.4 percentage.
  • Radford just misses leading the Big South in field goal percentage and field goal percentage defense. The Highlanders lead the league with a 34.5 field goal defense and rank second with a 41.8 field goal percentage, missing the conference lead by 0.2 percent.
  • With the 34.5 field goal percentage defense, Radford is eighth in the nation.
 
SCOUTING UNC ASHEVILLE
  • Record: 13-13, 7-8 Big South
  • UNC Asheville has dropped its last three Big South road games, holding a 3-4 record in league road games.
  • The Bulldogs are currently on a two-game winning streak, defeating Longwood and Charleston Southern by a combined 155-108.
  • The last road game won by the Bulldogs came on Jan. 24 with a 67-60 decision over Presbyterian.
  • On the season, UNC Asheville is 5-9 in games played away from the Kimmel Arena.
  • Big South Preseason Player of the Year Chatori Major leads the Bulldogs and ranks fifth in the league with 14.2 ppg.
  • Major is 129 for 335 from the field for a 38.5 field goal percentage. The senior is 61 for 149 from behind the arc, ranking second in the conference with a 40.9 percentage.
  • Joining Major in double-figures, Khaila Webb is averaging 11.5 ppg with a 44.4 field goal percentage.
  • UNC Asheville enters the contest second in the league in scoring with 65.5 ppg.
  • They are tied with Radford in field goal percentage with a 41.8 clip.
  • Allowing only 33.2 rebounds per game, UNC Asheville ranks second in the league.
  • The Bulldogs are one of four conference teams with over 1,000 rebounds on the season, ranking fourth with 38.7 per game.
  • Leading the Bulldogs with 7.9 rpg is KJ Weaver, tied for the Big South lead.
