RADFORD LACROSSE BEGINS BIG SOUTH PLAY; HOSTS LONGWOOD



RADFORD, Va. – The Radford women's lacrosse team returns to Cupp Stadium to open Big South Conference play against Longwood on Saturday at 2 p.m.

HIGHLANDER HIGHLIGHTS

•  The Highlanders look to bounce back after a 23-13 loss at Mount St. Mary's last Saturday.
•  Emma Rogers and Callie Bonnel scored nine of the Highlanders 13 goals as Rogers led the way with five.
•  Radford has scored 126 goals this season and is averaging 14 goals per game, both are atop the Big South.
•  Rogers has been getting great opportunities around the net and has scored 29 goals this season that ties her for the most in the conference. She is scoring 3.22 goals per game, which is the best in the Big South and 17th-best in the nation.
•  The Highlanders have been setting their teammates up for scoring opportunities and have assisted on 63 goals and are averaging seven assists per game, both are tops in the league.
•  Lindsey Carroll has been creating scoring chances and has a conference-high 21 assists this season with 10 coming in one game. She sits on top of the conference leaderboard with 2.33 assists per game.
•  The combination of goals and assists has put Radford first in the Big South averaging 21 points per game (13th nationally) and 17th in the country in scoring offense averaging 14 goals per game.
•  The Highlanders have been doing the little things right and have gotten to 209 ground balls this season, one shy of Liberty who leads the conference with 210. However, Radford is averaging 23.22 ground balls per game, which is best in the Big South. Shea Swingle leads the way averaging 3.11 per game and is 32nd in the nation.
•  Led by Adrian Rius, Big South leader in draw controls with 52 (5.78 per game), the Highlanders lead the Big South with 145 total draw controls and are averaging 16.11 per game.
 
SCOUTING LONGWOOD           
•  Longwood (4-6) has dropped three games in a row, but its four wins came against Mount St. Mary's, St. Bonaventure, Howard and George Washington.
•  Averaging 9.80 goals a game, the Lancers have accumulated a .485 shot percentage over 10 games including a .772 shot on goal percentage.
•  Longwood has 100 saves, while opponents facing them have just 58. The 100 saves a game is second best in the Big South.
•  The Lancers have reigning Big South Freshman of the Week in Dana Joss, who is the third Lancer to receive the honor. She scored a career-high three goals against George Mason and won a team-high six draw controls.
•  Longwood has two players with over 20 goals in Stephanie Roberts who has a team-high 22 and Cassie Angeles with 20.
