NINETY SIX, S.C. – The Radford golf team opened first round action at the Big South Championship on Monday at The Patriot at Grand Harbor and finished the day in ninth place as a team.

The Highlanders began play at 8 a.m., and started out strong as a team in the front nine carding six birdies as a team. However, the back nine only saw two players record a birdie. Khushboo Thiagaraj shot a two-over through the first nine holes and closed out the final nine holes just one-over for a three-over (75) first round finish. She is currently 15^th in the individual leaderboard.

Thiagaraj led with three birdies and Meagan Board and Morgan Cox followed that up with two of their own. Board finished tied for 40^th in the individual leaderboard and Cox finished tied for 36^th along with Olivia Jay and Kasidy Beckel.

Campbell and Charleston Southern are the top two teams after round one. The Fighting Camels shot one-over (289) as a team and the Buccaneers finished eight-over (296). Radford will be in a group with UNC Asheville and Longwood who are in seventh and eighth place, respectively.
