VOLLEYBALL ADDS FOUR TO 2017 SQUAD

RADFORD, Va. – Radford volleyball head coach Marci Jenkins announced the signing of four individuals to the National Letters of Intent on Friday morning. The quartet will suit up for the Highlanders for the 2017 season.

"Although we return all but one starter next year, as a staff we wanted to make sure with the rest of our 2017 class that we recruited some depth moving forward," Jenkins said. "I think all of these young ladies will have an opportunity in the fall to help us in some way."

Jenkins on Carruth: "Alyssa comes from a solid volleyball background playing for Willowbrook's top team the last few years. With the departure of Kelby (L) and Emma (DS), we were in need of another defensive player. Alyssa is very athletic and has a very high IQ for the game. She is an extremely hard worker both on and off the court, and her work ethic will fit right in with our team."

Jenkins on Coomes: "We are really happy to be able to add some much needed depth at the setter's position. Jordan's determination to be a very good player will go a long way in her development. She is quick, athletic and has some size all of which will help her moving forward. Like Alyssa she is great both on and off the court, and because of those qualities we just got better as a program."

Jenkins on DiClementi: As a transfer Grace will bring some collegiate playing experience into our gym. Her mother is a volleyball coach so she has been around the game a very long time. I think her maturity will be a solid addition for us, as well as her ability to possibly play multiple positions. Grace is also very good academically and her passion about volleyball fits us well.

Jenkins on Trypuc: Maddy is a player we had our eyes on for a few years and she continues to develop into what we will feel will be a dominate player sometime in the near future. She has a really fast arm and is a solid blocker. Adding some depth in the middle was a must for us and Maddy will do well once she understands our offensive and defensive systems. Academically she is solid and I am expecting great things from her on the court.
