RADFORD VENTURES TO WINTHROP FOR FIRST BIG SOUTH TOURNAMENT APPEARANCE



ROCK HILL, S.C. – The Radford women's lacrosse team will travel to Rock Hill, S.C., as a six seed in its first-ever Big South Tournament appearance to take on third seeded Winthrop on Sunday at Eagle Field. First draw is slated for 1 p.m.

HIGHLANDER HIGHLIGHTS
•  The Highlanders move into unchartered territory as they compete in their first ever postseason tournament and take on Winthrop.
•  The last time the two teams met, Radford fell 18-9, on April 8 in Rock Hill, S.C., and the Eagles haven't lost a game since then.
•  Radford fought hard in its last two games against Liberty and Campbell, but lost both by a combined five goals.
•  The Highlanders landed three players on postseason all-conference teams for the first time as Emma Rogers was named First-Team All-Conference, while Callie Bonnel and Lindsey Carroll were named Second-Team All-Conference.
•  Defensively, Jenny Davis totaled 33 saves in the two games against Liberty and Campbell.
•  Radford has scored 212 goals and is averaging 13.2 goals per game, second-most in the Big South and 86 more than the Highlanders tallied in 2016.
• Rogers has been getting great opportunities at the net and has scored 47 goals this season. She is scoring 2.94 goals per game, which is the third best in the Big South.
•  The Highlanders have been setting their teammates up for scoring opportunities and have assisted on 100 goals and are averaging just under seven assists per game, both are third-best in the league.
•  Carroll has been creating scoring chances and has 37 assists this season with 10 coming in one game. She sits second on the leaderboard with 2.31 assists per game.
•  The combination of goals and assists has put Radford second in the Big South averaging 19.50 points per game.
•  Radford is ninth in shot percentage (47.9 percent) and 29th in scoring offense averaging 13.25 goals per game.
•  The Highlanders have been doing the little things right and have gotten to 352 ground balls this season. Radford is averaging 22 ground balls per game, which is second-most in the Big South.
•  Radford is ranked 10th in the nation for draw controls per game, led in large part by Adrian Rius. She leads the team with 5.63 draw controls per game.
•  Individually, her 5.63 draw controls per game rank her 15th in the nation.
•  Led by Rius , the Big South leader in draw controls with 5.62 per game and 10 shy of 100 for the season, the Highlanders lead the Big South with 240 total draw controls and are averaging 15 per game.
 
SCOUTING WINTHROP      
•  Winthrop (8-9, 5-2 Big South) has the second longest win streak in the Big South after winning seven in a row.
•  The last time the Eagles lost was on April 5 at High Point. The Panthers defeated Winthrop 20-10.
•  Winthrop has the leader of goals scored this season, Nicole Beatson, who has 51 and is averaging three goals per game. Her three goals per game is tied for first in the Big South.
•  Katherine Judge leads the Big South with 92 draw controls, but is second behind Rius with 5.41 draw controls per game.
