2017 SCHEDULE | 2017 PDF SCHEDULE

RADFORD, Va.
– Marci Jenkins, Radford volleyball head coach, has announced the 2017 schedule on Tuesday. The schedule features three 2016 NCAA Tournament teams, including one that made a NCAA Regional appearance.

"We have a very tough pre-conference schedule for the upcoming year," Jenkins said. "We have high quality teams each weekend and we are on the road the entire month of September. Hopefully the rigors of being tested early and often will help us once we get into conference play."

The Highlanders will play their first 15 games of the season away from the Dedmon Center and have 11 in non-conference tournament play. The first tournament is the Lehigh Tournament, which features Marist, Coppin State and host Lehigh. The tournament begins on Aug. 25 and ends on Aug. 26.

Radford will travel west the following weekend to participate in the Arizona Tournament, which consists of Grand Canyon, Eastern Kentucky and 2016 NCAA Regional participant, Arizona. The Wildcats went 20-15 last season, but lost to Washington in the third round of the NCAA Tournament. The Arizona Tournament will be held Sept. 1-2.

The following weekend the Highlanders travel to Columbia, S.C., to play in the South Carolina Tournament, which will take place on Sept. 8-9. The tournament features host South Carolina, Eastern Kentucky and Miami (Ohio). The Redhawks were MAC regular season champions in 2016 and had an overall record of 24-7 and 15-1 in conference. The team received an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament, but lost to Oregon in the opening round.

Radford returns closer to the New River Valley to compete in the Virginia Tech Tournament on Sept. 15. The Highlanders will play against host Virginia Tech and East Tennessee State.

The 2016 Big South regular season champs begin conference play on the road at Winthrop (Sept. 19). The Highlanders round out the month of September on the road against Gardner-Webb (Sept. 22), Campbell (Sept. 29) and Big South Tournament champions High Point (Sept. 30).

The Highlanders have eight of their last 12 games inside the Dedmon Center and open the month of October with a commonwealth clash hosting Liberty on Oct. 3. Radford then travels to Clinton, S.C., for a date with Presbyterian on Oct. 7, before returning to home to take on UNC Asheville (Oct. 13) and Winthrop (Oct. 14).

Radford will have two back-to-back weekend matchups with the first being on Oct. 20 and Oct. 21, traveling to Charleston Southern and UNC Asheville. The following week the Highlanders host Presbyterian and Gardner-Webb on Oct. 27 and Oct. 28, respectively. Radford concludes the month of October with a trip to Lynchburg, Va., to take on Liberty (Oct. 31).

The month of November features three final home games against Charleston Southern (Nov. 4), Campbell (Nov. 7) and High Point (Nov. 11).

The 2017 Big South Tournament will be held at Radford inside the Dedmon Center from Nov. 17-19. The tournament will feature the top six teams of the conference with the first two seeds receiving a first round bye.
