PALMER AND NASH GARNER BIG SOUTH WEEKLY HONORS

CHARLOTTE, N.C.Maddie Palmer and Kaylor Nash earned Big South Player of the Week and Big South Defensive Player of the Week honors, respectively, after helping the Highlanders pick up three wins on the weekend – including a big win over Arizona – at the Cactus Classic.

"Maddie was solid all weekend in Tucson and was a big reason for our success," Marci Jenkins said. "Nash taking over the libero jersey and performing the way she did was another big reason we performed so well. I am very proud of both seniors and especially for Nash's recognition."

Palmer picked up where she left off from week one and earned her second player of the week honors this season. The reigning Big South Conference Player of the Week totaled 49 kills, while hitting .210 on the weekend. She recorded a season-high 22 kills against Grand Canyon in the opening match, had 11 against Eastern Kentucky and 16 when facing Arizona.

Not only did she have 49 kills, she recorded 38 digs. 16 digs came against Grand Canyon, 12 against EKU and 10 against Arizona, which gave her three double-doubles for the weekend. The senior also recorded six service aces – four against Arizona – and had 11 total blocks. The performance earned her a spot on the Cactus Classic All-Tournament Team and Cactus Classic MVP.

Nash found her groove this weekend and was a prominent component in Radford securing the top spot in the Cactus Classic. Only having 20 digs on the season, Nash was nine digs away from tripling her dig total in one weekend, as she recorded 51. She had three double-digit dig performances and was one shy of having 20 in one match.

The senior totaled a season-high 19 against Arizona and had 17 against Grand Canyon. In a three set match against Eastern Kentucky, she totaled 15. The act earned her a spot on the Cactus Classic All-Tournament Team.

For Palmer it is her 10th time in her career earning Big South Conference Player of the Week and Nash's first Big South Conference Defensive Player of the Week honor of her career.

The senior leaders head to Columbia, S.C., to compete in the Carolina Classic on Friday and Saturday. The tournament will start on Friday at 10 a.m., as the Highlanders take on Miami (OH).
