RADFORD AND CAMPBELL MEET TUESDAY IN DEFENSIVE BATTLE



GAME INFORMATION  
SETTING THE STAGE
  • Radford had its four-game winning streak snapped in a 61-56 loss to Liberty on Sunday.
  • In the streak, Radford held all opponents to under 60 points, giving up that mark for the first time since Jan. 9.
  • Campbell has won two straight after dropping three in a row. The Fighting Camels had a 30-point win over Gardner-Webb on the road and needed a big second half comeback Saturday to defeat Longwood 58-48.
  • The Highlanders conclude their rough road stretch as that saw four out of the last six games come on the road.
  • Radford will be rewarded Saturday with four of its next six games coming inside the Dedmon Center.
  • The Highlanders have struggled on the road this season, possessing a 3-5 clip, while Campbell holds a 6-4 record at home.
  • Radford is 2-2 in Big South road games, while Campbell is 2-2 in home league games.
 
SERIES HISTORY
  • Radford holds a 24-12 edge in the all-time series. The Highlanders are only 8-8 in road contests, winning the last two.
  • Since Campbell rejoined the league in 2011, Radford holds a slight 7-5 advantage.
  • The Highlanders own a five-game winning streak in the series, including a 49-48 decision on Feb. 27, 2017 to claim the Big South Regular Season Championship.
  • The five-game streak comes after Campbell had one of its own in the series. In the streak, Campbell has only scored over 50 points once.
  • In the last two meetings inside Gore Arena, Radford's stifling defense has held Campbell to under 45 points in each game.
 
HIGHLANDER HIGHLIGHTS
  • Radford had its four-game winning streak snapped on Sunday at Liberty, a streak where the Highlanders held opponents under 60 points in each game, holding a 21-4 record in the last 51 games when doing so.
  • Radford's defense now ranks 26th nationally with a 56.4 scoring defense and 51st on holding opponents to a 28.7 three-point field goal percentage.
  • The Highlanders are holding conference opponents to 55.0 ppg as only three teams have scored 60-plus with all three coming as Radford losses.
  • Offensively, Radford has shot over 40-percent in 10 games on the season, including four in a row.
  • Radford is 9-1 on the season when shooting over 40 percent with the lone loss coming at Liberty on Sunday.
  • Destinee Walker and Jayda Worthy have scored double-digits in the last three games, the only Highlanders to do so.
  • The duo has scored in double-figures in 12 games each on the season.
  • Walker ranks 10th in the league with 11.9 ppg, scoring 11.9 in Big South games.
  • Worthy has only been held under 10 points in two Big South games, ranking ninth in the league with 13.3 ppg.
  • She ranks third in the conference with a 52.8 field goal percentage, shooting 54.0 percent in league games.
  • Radford has four players shooting over 40 percent in league games as Lydia Rivers would lead the league with a 63.8 percentage, but has not recorded 50 attempts yet. She has 47 attempts.
  • Entering the game with 1,111 career points, Worthy is 22 rebounds away from becoming the fifth player in program history with 1,100 points and 700 rebounds. She is also 84 points from moving into the Top 10 scoring in program history.
  • Radford is one of three teams in the Big South with three players averaging double-figures. Walker (11.9, 10th), Worthy (11.8, 11th) and Khiana Johnson (10.4, 14th).
  • The Highlanders are the only team with two players in conference's top five and three in the top 10 in rebounding. Rivers (8.3, 2nd), Janayla White (7.7, 3rd) and Worthy (6.2, 9th).
  • The trio has combined for 176 of Radford's 314 rebounds in Big South play.
  • Nationally, Rivers ranks 45th with 2.0 blocks per game, ranking second in the league with 38 blocks.
  • Radford has dished out 15-plus assists in four of eight league games.
  • The Highlanders have four players averaging two assists. Claudia Quevedo (2.8), Jen Falconer (2.4), Worthy (2.3) and Walker (2.0).
 
SCOUTING CAMPBELL
  • Campbell possesses one of the best defenses in the country as the Fighting Camels rank third nationally with a 53.4 scoring defense. The Fighting Camels have only allowed opponents to score 60-plus points in seven games this season, but not allowing more than 66 points in a game.
  • The Fighting Camel defense leads the Big South in field goal percentage defense, holding opponents to a 34.5 shooting clip to rank eighth in the nation. Campbell's defense ranks second in the league with a 28.1 three-point field goal percentage defense.
  • However defensively, Campbell has not racked up many steals or blocks. The Fighting Camels are last with 5.5 steals per game and fifth with 2.8 blocks per game.
  • Sporting eight players averaging five-plus points per game, Summer Price is the lone player averaging double-figures with 15.9 per game, which is tied for the league best.
  • In Big South games, Price is averaging 14.3 per contest. Price has led the team in points in 12 of 19 games.
  • Makala Rouse follows with 7.6 ppg, but ranks second in the league with 4.2 assists per game. She is also the team's rebounder with 5.8 per game.
  • The Fighting Camels average 6.9 3-pointers made per game as Price leads the league with 132 attempts, making 47 of them for a 35.6 percentage.
 
UP NEXT
  • Radford will host Gardner-Webb Saturday as the Highlanders begin the second part of the Big South schedule with a 2 p.m., contest.
  • The Runnin' Bulldogs took the first meeting on Jan. 6 with a 69-53 decision.
  • The all-time series belongs to Radford at 14-10 with a 7-3 edge inside the Dedmon Center.
